If you asked me three years ago if this was what I would be doing, the answer would be probably not. Three years ago, I was a teacher for 4th graders ready to learn and conquer their multiplication tables. For me, it was a dream to have my own classroom and 25 wonderful students that were eager to learn every day, all day.

Then, one magical makeup fairy by the name of Alexa or as many know her now as The Glam Fairy, introduced into the world I know today. After numerous photoshoots with Alexa and filming a makeup tutorial for her, something sparked in my mind with what I was doing with the videos. I enjoyed editing and putting music to videos that I have made for fun or helping others. So after numerous views on Youtube.com, I figured why not have a “home” for my videos to show creditability of my work. The only problem is who am I, and what is my name? So after recalling my years singing with a 70’s band called Monte and The All Stars, I remembered they named me Queen D. So, I thought about what I wanted to do with these videos and how I wanted to make a vlog versus a blog and Queen Buzz was born April 2010.

Was I your typical Fashionista, no because yeah, I was that tomboy who enjoyed hockey and throwing a football around, but was that going to stop me from this

new goal…NOPE! So, after my first ten likes on Facebook, I was excited and ready to conquer this Fashionista world. I knew one thing for sure, I wasn’t in it to meet celebrities, I wasn’t in it to become famous, I was in it because I love to film and those ten first likes on Facebook said “Hey we love what you do, we want more!”

Charities, fashion shows, Sachika Fashion Week for New York City Fashion Week, Pink Jewels reviews, restaurants, Warehouse Cheap and Chic and the list goes on to working with the Hip Event to meeting people who read my blog, to now co-hosting with Alexis Cardoza, owner of ClubZone.fm and writing for this magazine is a reminder that because I love what I do, things hap-pen because I make them happen and I never gave up. Many ask how I accomplished so much in a year, and it simply was because I always asked. What I mean is that if I saw an event, I simply asked if I could attend and cover the event and 90% of the time they said yes.

So for my first write-up of many, be ready for things that are posi-tive and oh so pop culture fun, because this is what I do. I take you to the events, parties, restaurants, you name it and I give you that behind the scenes review or experience that many can’t have. I am the Queen Buzz and I buzz about pop culture because pop culture is worth buzzing about!

Want me to buzz about you…[email protected]

Sometimes you hear phrases so dumb that you have to either share them with the world or have an aneurism so feel free to share these with your friends.

1. I don’t think New Jersey has been a state that long. Go and get a US History book right now!

2. Heels can never be too high. –They can be when you don’t know how to walk in them, and you don’t.

3. You can’t over tease your hair. –So, then that’s a bird next on your head.

4. It doesn’t matter what it is, just drink it! -This stunning display of logic is sure to get you poisoned one day.

5. People from NJ are like the anti-vampires. –Ok so we like our tans and garlic. That’s not a mortal sin.

6. Catholic is like the state religion here. –Go join your friend from #1.

7. It’s cool to fight here. –Since this is nether XMA or Vegas. No, its not.

8. What’s wrong with your nails! -Nothing! This is how they look without acrylics on them. I’m scared you don’t recognize them.

9. Can I get away with platform jellies? -No, you’re over the age of 8. Back away from the shoes.

10. Do you know where I can get blue eyeliner? -Blissfully, I don’t.

11. The Jerseylicious girls are completely normal. –How can you possibly tell with all of that editing? You see 30 min of their lives a week. You don’t really know these people.

12. Why can’t I get a deep-dish pizza? -Because you’re not in Chicago. In our state you’ll eat pizza our way.

13. Why would a diner be open at 4am? -So we can eat at it. The neon sign says 24 hours. Read it!

14. You don’t get skin cancer if you use tanning oil. –No, that’s sun block you’re thinking of.

15. I drove two hours to get here, why can’t I go on the beach? -See the lightning? That’s why.

16. This state is all highways. –Yes, just like Wisconsin is all cows, Nebraska is all fields and Pennsylvania is all Amish.

17. Hi, I want the Gordia meal, grande with a mountain dew. –Oh, your stomach is going to make you pay for that later.

18. No one lives at the Jersey Shore; it’s just a tourist trap. –Yes, we do and we really don’t love the way you act when you’re here.

19. Why is this line so long? -Because it’s the only bathroom on the boardwalk.

20. Why does it smell here? -See the above answer.

The festival was created to include all sorts of arts. The rst level consisting primarily of vendors, tattoo artists, and stage performers. The second level being primarily for showcasing art in a gallery set-up. Upon entering the festival on the main level I found a diverse

mix of clothing, books accessory vendors, along with tattoo artists. Proceeding through the isles towards the back of the room I found BTG’s booth in front of the stage. The booth was setup with a live feed of Biagio tattooing, merchandise, and enthusiasm. The stage would provide a perfect platform for skateboarding, gymnastics, suspension, burlesque, tattoo contests and a

side show by Show Devils. Although as soon as the festivities were underway it was clear to see that some of the performers were as interested in watching the live feed BTG was providing as BTG was in watching their acts.

When I was nally able to pull myself away from the excitement on the rst level and venture to the second level I found a new world of wonderment. The walls were lled with art from all those who attended and wanted to display. There were artists setup sporadically painting and drawing, & taking

pictures of all the sights. I was also able to witness Tebori, the Japanese style of hand poking tattoo. In my exploration of the second level I also stumbled upon a bar full of choice refreshments.

Recently, July 29th – 31st, Biagio’s Tattoo Gallery (BTG) attended and participated in the Asbury Park Visionary Arts Tattoo Festival, which was a fantastic success. The festival was perfect for BTG because their focus is Art w/ an expose’ on Tattoo, and this festival shared that central focus

Having been refreshed, I moved back down to the rst level to take in a few more shows and also check the progress of Biagio’s Tattoo on the live feed. In returning to the BTG booth I was able to witness an interesting interaction between LeiLani and a Fennik fox. The fox, whom was named Gizmo, was the pet of a lovely young artist by the name of Rebecca “Foxy” Fiduccia. Thanks to Rebecca’s kind ways with Gizmo, LeiLani was able to hold Gizmo on her lap and enjoy the company of an exotic animal.

A noteable event at Visionary is an amazing performance by Show Devils; Serana Rose & the Enigma. Among their props, which came dangerously close or even into their faces, were scissors, a drill, and a chainsaw!! Another tidbit, a musical outburst with BTG crew member Steve Maron (guitar) & Matt Bent (drums). All in all the vibe was phenomenally uplifting!! “Show Devils”- Serana Rose

Art Exhibit OpeningAug. 6th 2011

Our most recent event here at Biagio’s Tattoo Gallery was an art exhibit opening to welcome in our newest featured artists Bill Stillman and Vince Blanco. It was a great opportunity for the artists and everyone involved to connect with art lovers and engage in conversations about art, creativity and inspirations of all forms. There were various delights to drinks and snack on for everyone to enjoy. A main attraction of the event was a collaborative painting in which anyone and everyone was encouraged to participate in. The painting took many forms throughout the day and into the night, ending up as a blender mess of paint and creativity. All in all it was an eventful day of painting and art to be appreciated by any art enthusiast. The evening did not end there as the guests were taken stretch-limo style, times-2, to Pazzo-Pazzo in Morristown for the afterparty.

Heading to Pazzo Pazzo was an interesting time. Being able to, basically, transfer the party from the gallery to the restaurant in 2 limos created a seamless trasition. The good energy continued as we enjoyed our very avorful cuisine. Drinks rounded o the night, to celebrate another successful event and the meeting of new friends.

“Zeus Mourns”Tattoo by: BiagioCritique by: Bill Stillman This tattoo is an extremely good example of the talent needed to execute such a design. As an artist, it is easy for me to recognize the skill involved with this tattoo. Two of the most dicult items to draw, yet alone tattoo, are hair and electricity. In this tattoo it is clear how well the lightening bolt feels like it will electrocute anyone who gets too close. The hair is done so well, as if you can see every strand of hair on Zeus’s head. This is just a testament to the level of talent showcased at Biagio’s Tattoo Gallery.

I am an extremely outgoing person. I can pretty much get along with anyone as long as you don’t get on my bad side ;). I like to go out and have fun, but I enjoy spending time alone, too. I can get loud and party hard, but never out of hand, thanks to my fun, loud, and crazy Swedish family. They’ve taught me to work hard so I can party just as hard and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Currently, I’m not looking for a relationship. I want to finish what I feel I need to complete myself first. I’m at a very happy point in my life, and I can’t wait transfer to another state for school. I don’t ever want to change who I am, my goals, or plans for some-one else. It drives me nuts when I see girls my age who want to do things like move away for school or travel, but they set those things aside for a guy. Guess what, if it’s meant to be, he’ll be there after you’ve done what you need to do. When the right guy comes around, he can join my adventure. =)

I would love to see Europe. If I get the opportunity, I’d love to study abroad. There are so many differ-ent cultures in the different European countries, and not only are there many beautiful things to see, but other ways of life to learn about.

I don’t ever want to look back and say “I wish I had…” I don’t want my ambition to die. I know that when I do figure out exactly what career path I want to choose, I will be the best of the best. In today’s world, if you don’t have an education you better be damn lucky, and if you do, you might as well make it something you enjoy and are proud that you pushed yourself to get to.

I like to work out, read, and occasionally draw. I don’t watch t.v. unless someone else has it on (one exception=lost. phenomenal show when it was on), and the computer usually annoys me. I always end up on facebook reading about people’s pathetic drama they want to expose to the rest of the world for whatever reason.

Usually, a remake of a classic horror film doesn’t hold up to the original. This is one of those rare remakes that actually works. Anton Yelchin does a superb job of walking that fine line between scared teenager and fearless hero. While Colin Farrell plays his spooky persona to understated perfection and David Tennant does a phenomenal job with a character that could very easily have come off as campy, if in the hands of a less talented performer. While Christopher Mintz-Plasse, slips into the role of Evil Ed with ease. Imogen Poots is completely believable as Yelchin’s love interest and feisty vampire hunter, never seeming over the top or silly. Even Toni Collette breathes life into a character that in most movies of this type would simply be a throw-away role. Fright Night is spooky, bloody, exciting and most importantly, fun. I’ll be the first to admit that I was slightly hesitant to see this movie, due to my serious dislike of remakes. However, this movie is definitely worth seeing. These days, most (ok, let’s be honest… ALL) recent 3D movies, since Avatar, seem to be nothing more than a way to pluck a few extra bucks out of our wallets. The 3D in this movie is no exception. It is unnecessary and brings little to the film, except for eye cramps and headache. In short, go see Fright Night; just don’t bother with the glasses.

Jesse Eisenberg stars as Nick, a hapless, underachieving Pizza Delivery Boy, who is kidnapped by two redneck thugs, played by Danny McBride and Nick Swardson. The men strap a bomb vest to Nicks chest and force him to rob a bank. Nick enlists the help of his best friend and roommate Chet, played by Aziz Ansari, to help him and offer guidance. The laughs in this film are few and far between, and when they are there, you can thank Aziz Ansari for all of them. To be honest, one of the only reasons I saw this movie, was because it was directed by Ruben Fleischer, who directed one of my recent favorites, “Zombieland”, which also starred Eisenberg. I was not only disappointed in the lack of laughs in the film, but shocked, when while doing research for this article, I learned of a shockingly similar case, where Brian Wells, a pizza man in Pennsylvania, died after being forced to rob a bank in the exact same fashion as depicted in this film. The reason for my shock, is that the writers of the film WERE familiar with the tragedy and wrote this COMEDY anyway. Shame on you Michael Diliberti (story and screenplay) and Matthew Sullivan (story). Skip this one, and just go rent “Seems Like Old Times” instead.

I have always wanted a dance studio. I have always wanted to make a mark, and this time I’m ready!

A girl’s playground is what La Tutu was made for. A place to go exercise and feel confident while doing it. Using your body and a pole to work out has become the most popular form of exercise. Recent studies with Living-Social show that Pole Dancing as a form of exercise surpasses regular gym workouts.

La Tutu offers many classes much like a dance studio. Ballet, choreogra-phy, burlesque and of course your Pole 101 Beginner pole up to advanced Pole. It’s popular in New York City and all the way to California, so I wanted to give those Jersey ladies the chance to stay local and stay fit!

I am a classically trained ballerina and have had the opportunity to work with some of the best teachers in the world. I have taken the ballet barre and my knowledge in dance and turned that ballet barre from its horizontal

La TuTu

28

Page 31: September 2011 Edition

place to a vertical place. So now the only question is, what class is your class of choice?

Starting in the Fall, signups are monthly as classes do change every month allowing you to change classes each month as well as continue to advance to the next level in pole. Most women are at first hesitate to attempt the pole as even I was, but everyone is a beginner at some level. I have clients who are ballerinas who want to learn tricks and flips to go-go danc-ers who have the strength and ability to climb and spin, but want to find that graceful ballerina-esque movement.

La Tutu was built to allow women to embody a confidence in one self while exercising and feeling good while doing it. At La Tutu each class offers a full cardio workout with strength training and the best result is confidence.

Follow La Tutu and of course visit us:Twitter: @thelatutu Facebook: La TutuWebsite: www.latutu.comAddress: 490 Riverview Drive, Totowa, NJ Phone: 973.224.7116

August 20, Metropolis Nights was invited to a very special bikini contest hosted at Club Bliss by International Fire Goddesses. Over the past few years Metropo-lis Nights has been invited to many bikini contests hosted by many different modeling groups and clubs. Each one always has its unique twist and manage-ment, sometimes poorly managed and sometimes just slightly fumbled. How-ever, in this case International Fire Goddesses put on an amazing performance. With all the angles covered, from their guests, to the models, to the general crowd, everyone had a great time.

Bikini Contest

International Fire Goddesses has had models featured in numerous magazines, on MT, and VH1. With a range spanning from real-ity TV shows, music videos, commercials, and print, I’m proud to say that Metropolis Nights was treated to a show that reflected all their accomplishments.

The models of International Fire Goddesses were extremely beautiful, sexy, and profes-sional. Hyping up the crowd, dancing on the stage, these girls really know how to lay it down.

Take a few seconds to check out the photos, and hop over to the Metropolis Nights website to see videos of this awesome bikini contest.

I am a big supporter of charities, and I will do almost anything to help anyone out, This past month I sponsored a charity event for the NJ SPCA, which is a charity event raising money for animals who are sick, abandoned, or abused. Many came out to sponsor this event and I thank everyone for it! This event was held at UpTown in Morristown. Animals are my love, dogs spe-cifically are the sweetest animals God could have ever created. I have a dog and her name is So-phie, besides my husband Carmen, she is my best friend. I truly feel like she comforts me so well! When I’m upset she understands, when my stom-ach hurts she rests her head right on my stomach. I feel like dogs just know! They are never mad, upset, or angry with you. They’re always looking for love, and they’re always excited to see you even if you were gone for 5 minutes! It angers me so much that someone could harm such a beauti-ful animal. I am a big supporter of the NJ SPCA, I always will be, and I encourage everyone who reads this article to like them on Facebook and do whatever you can to help the dogs out there, they need our love!

FashionA “POSCHE” STYLEReality TV seems to have taken the world by storm and with that comes the want and need of what these TV stars are wearing. From the red carpet Oh la la dress to the skinny J Brand jeans, the ladies of TV have us ladies wanting what they have. Whether you are a Kim DePaola beauty or a Jacqueline Laurita stylish mom, there is one place where you can dress like the stars.

From jewelry to dresses, Posche Boutique in Wayne, NJ is the home to the Real House-wives of New Jersey. Reality TV has become our red carpet into the lives of those on screen with an “introduction” to these fabulous people. So now that we have that introduc-tion, of course we want what they have and Posche Boutique gives you just that.

From the gorgeous Haute Hippie dress recently seen on Teresa Giudice in the NY Post to the Clara Kasavina earrings worn by many, these ladies of the Real Housewives of New Jersey know that when it’s time to dress to the nines, they go to one place and that place is Posche Boutique.

Kim DePaola, owner of Posche Boutique, frequents RHONJ. It all started when Jacqueline and ex-cast member Danielle Staub entered her boutique one evening. Her boutique is set to display a girl’s fantasy closet filled with only the most fabulous pieces with chandeliers and accents of zebra for that ultimate 40’s glamorous vintage feel. Many ask and email daily, how she makes everyone feel so warm and inviting and with Kim, it is simple. Every person that walks into her store she greets with a smile and spends every minute with them. It’s a true one on one styling session when you enter the boutique and she makes sure you leave with something that makes you red carpet ready. From DVF to Haute Hippie to the

42

hottest Sergio Zelcer shoes and of course all the VSA necklaces a girl can dream of, Posche Boutique is the crème de la crème when it comes to upscale boutiques.

Kim has also made her mark with her lavish events and of course the yearly fashion show. Last year, I had the pleasure to walk in Kim’s Posche Boutique Fashion Show at the Brownstone and this year she is ready to do it again at her SOLD OUT September 27th fashion show at Son Cubano. Founded in 2010 by Donnella Tilery, tri-state Membership Commission Chair of Fashion Group International and long-time fashion consultant, New Jersey Fashion Week is indisputably the fashion event of the year.

With national sponsors consisting of Vitamin Water, Dove Chocolates, W Ho-tels, and LA Sunset Tans, it should not come as a surprise that mayors of some of the state’s most prominent communities are teaming up for Fashion Night Out, “[NJFW] is a statewide event and I would like the public to partake in the cause as much as possible. The promotional night out is open to the public. Not only will this boost the economy, but provide consumers an opportunity to take advantage of exclusive sales, specials, and events.”

Unlike ostentatious “competitors” who dub themselves an “international event,” New Jersey Fashion Week is the real deal; with designers being flown in from throughout America, Italy, London, Haiti, and other global entities, the Garden State is destined to leave its mark on the world of fashion. Hairdresser to stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Eric Alt of “Eric Alt Salons” will be styling all models for fashion week. Moreover, the inclusion of menswear, wom-enswear, and childrenswear with the infusion of models of all ages and backgrounds on the runway, guarantees diversity to reign in October.

The five-day affair will begin Sun. October 9th and com-mence Thurs. October 13th at the W Hotel in Hoboken. The standard ticket price is $100/day and allows guests the op-portunity to view multiple runway shows over an eight-hour period from 1PM until 9PM. Attendees are also treated to hor d’oeuvres, product samples, and receive gift bags valued

between $100—$200, beyond sup-porting the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation. Simultaneously, there will be subsequent events which will be free and open to the public. The aforementioned events provide non-ticket goers the opportunity to receive a sneak peek of what fashion week has to offer, as well as partake in a variety of exciting activities.
