The Meeting commenced at 10:15 AM with the National Anthem and the Thamil Valzthu followed by 2 minutes of silence in memory of the Members who passed away during the year under review.
1. Welcome Address
The President, Mr. Shiva Pasupati welcomed the Members to the twenty-second Annual General Meeting. He gave an overview of some of the main activities that were conducted such as yoga classes on 1
st and 3
rd
Thursday of every month, arts & craft, indoor games, cultural celebrations, excursions followed by fellowship lunches Amutha Surabi that relieved members from rushing to catch buses to get home in time for their midday meal and speeches by renowned speakers on a variety of topics. He also thanked those members who celebrated their special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries at the Centre which complemented the Amutha Surabi lunches. He informed the members of the efforts being taken to establish a Housing Cooperative. Two meetings with the Housing Minister were very encouraging but unfortunately a sudden change in the Minister had slowed the progress. But information from the ministry indicated that this matter would be revisited early in 2014 and the President was hopeful of favourable outcomes for the establishment of a Housing Cooperative. This needs to be pursued since the Association wished to include the construction of a Hall as part of this project for which we have accumulated a reasonable sum of money. He expressed the view that the combined effect of all these activities contributed immensely to the overall health and well-being of the Members whilst also promoting a sense of fellowship and goodwill in the community.. He thanked Mr Naguleswaran for taking the position of Assistant Treasurer and computerizing the accounts. He thanked Mrs Padma Thangarajah not only for producing an excellent Uravu but contributed towards catering and with members of her family organized cultural events. He thanked Kunaseelan for taking the responsibility of the web site as well as acted as our photographer. He thanked Mrs Thisairasa for her contribution to the Arts and Crafts exhibition each and every year with the able support of Mr Thisarasa. Mrs Vasuki Mahadeva was then thanked for contribution in singing and lunch organization. Mrs Krishnasamy, Manickarajah, Sivasooriyar and Nadarajah were then thanked for their contributions. He also thanked Murugesu and Thambirajah non committee members who had the welfare of the association in mind for their enormous support. The General Manager and Mayor of Strathfield were thanked for all the support TSCA received throughout the year. The auditor Mr Sivathondan’s services both as Auditor and Returning Officer were acknowledged with grateful thanks. He thanked the members for their support and requested that it be extended to the incoming committee headed by Col Ramanathan. In conclusion he referred to the high praise Marlene of the West Seniors club had mentioned at the council meeting and wished that our actions will continue
in such an exemplary manner to set an example to others. 2. Minutes of Previous Meeting Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 29 September 2012 were confirmed. Proposed by Col. V. Ramanathan and seconded by Mr. S. Wijayaratnam.
3. .Annual Report for 2012/13 The Annual Report for 2012/13 by the Committee of Management gave a comprehensive coverage of TSCA’s performance during the year under review. In presenting the Report, the Secretary, Mr. M. Kangatharan highlighted some of the salient features which included the following:
• A total of 14 Committee meetings were held during the year. • Conducted a number of cultural events and also Harmony day; • A very successful Grand Childrens Day; • Yoga classes conducted by Acharya Dhanaraj
assisted by Sharma and Sarojini Nallanthuwan and will be continued under the new Committee as per assurances given by the incoming President;
• Received a grant of $2000.00 and an up to date computer for our Seniors Kiosk;
• The membership fees was raised to $ 20.00 from $15.00. Although some members had expressed anxiety over this, on the long run in keeping up with inflation the Association will benefit;
• The Building Fund now stands at $ 40,000.00; • Donation to Mahadeva Achirama Childrens Home; • A successful luncheon program that promoted a
harmonious fellowship.
The Report was unanimously adopted by the house.

Our President has been at the forefront working towards making this Association a robust, friendly and vibrant organization. The meticulous care he took to present the events almost each and every Thursday during the year is not very easy to emulate. It was our fortune that such a colossus volunteered to lead us. I personally and trust the Management Committee will join me, sincerely thank him for his enormous and ungrudging support to this Association. The financial progress this year was mainly due to measures he instituted such as reducing the Newsletter to 2 issues. This trend, I trust will be maintained by the incoming committee, to ensure we continue successfully into the future. On behalf of the Management Committee and on my own personal behalf as Secretary of the Association, I wish to record my deep appreciation and gratitude for the trust and confidence you have placed in us in all our endeavours.
