John D. Couris John D. Couris is a nationally recognized leader in the healthcare industry. Over the course of his career, he has achieved tremendous success through innovation, technological integration, and strategic collaborations while ensuring world-class performance. Prior to joining Tampa General Hospital as President and Chief Executive Officer in August 2017, John served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Jupiter Medical Center.

Kathy B. Dempsey, R.N., M.Ed., C.S.P. Kathy B. Dempsey is an award-winning author, a keynote speaker, a change expert, and the founder of The Shedding Revolution. She ignites people and organizations with the skills, motivation, and supportive accountability to embrace and celebrate change. Her most popular book Shed or You’re Dead® has been awarded with a Writer’s Digest International Book Award. She has achieved the highest earned speaker’s designation in the world, the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP). She has also been voted Top 5 Healthcare Speaker 2 years in a row by the CSP.

Dr. J. Andrew Chacko Dr. J. Andrew Chacko is a leader in healthcare innovation, and a highly sought-after public speaker and consultant on a broad array of topics including design thinking, leadership, healthcare, education, digital health, mental health, and wellness. As the only practicing clinician to have graduated from the program that developed design thinking, he expertly synthesizes years of expertise in medicine as a psychiatrist, work as a designer and innovator, and a focus on leadership and teamwork.

360 Summit PANELStudent to Care Provider: Perspectives on the Education-Healthcare Pipeline Given the critical staffing shortages in many healthcare positions today, the role that education and training programs play in filling the pipeline to healthcare careers is crucial. This panel explores the perspectives of one UMA Clearwater Campus Medical Assistant student who is about to graduate; the Campus Director at UMA Clearwater who represents the efforts of a career training school to recruit, train, and retain students; a staffing recruiter from HCA, one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, including the operation of several local hospitals; as well as local community perspectives from the Juvenile Welfare Board and Pinellas County Economic Development.

Jane Swift, UMA Executive Chair (moderator) Former Massachusetts Governor Jane Swift is an experienced board member and executive, with expertise in education and technology gained from both her public and private sector positions. Swift served for 15 years in state government, including as Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and State Senator in Massachusetts.

Rebecca Sarlo, Ph.D. Rebecca Sarlo, Ph.D. was named Campus Director of Ultimate Medical Academy’s Clearwater Campus in February 2018 where she oversees both the academic and operational functions at the campus in Clearwater, Florida.

Andrea L. Falvey, CEcDAndrea Falvey joined Pinellas County Economic Development in February 2011 as a Business Development Manager specializing in the industry sectors of life sciences, medical technologies, and business and financial services. She focuses on the expansion, training, and retention of local employers and their workforce.

Yaridis L. Garcia Yaridis L. Garcia is the Community Planner Manager at the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, leading the Community Planning Unit, which is responsible for community engagement, planning, advocacy, and strategic mission-driven projects that lead to positive changes for children and families in Pinellas County.

Adrianne Tolin Adrianne Tolin is a student at Ultimate Medical Academy. She plans to graduate from UMA Clearwater’s Medical Assistant program this month and is currently fulfilling her externship requirements at Gulf Coast Medical and Geriatric Care in St. Petersburg.

Kevin Bellas Kevin Bellas is the Lead Recruiter with HCA’s West Florida Division and responsible for hiring director and executive-level employees for the healthcare provider. He also manages the Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician vacancies within the division and works in conjunction with hospital leadership to develop strategies that help in cultivating the next wave of healthcare professionals.

Jason Besterfeldt Jason Besterfeldt is Regional Vice President for Conifer Health Solutions. Working in healthcare IT and services for 20 years, he has provided consulting, technology, and services to hospitals, physician groups, networks, independent physician associations, payers, managed services organizations, and banks. In so doing, he has helped move the healthcare and other industries forward by embracing technology, understanding competitive landscapes, and evaluating difficult organization decisions. He has held various leadership positions with Electronic Health Record, Clearinghouse, Revenue Cycle Management, and Population Health Companies.

Daron DiecidueDaron Diecidue, MD is founder and CEO of Fast Track Urgent Care – among the Top 100 largest urgent cares in the United States, and the largest physician-owned urgent care organization in Florida.

Mark A. FloresMark A. Flores, CLSSBB, is TeamSTEPPS Program Manager at the Veteran’s Administration Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, a position he has held since retiring from the U. S. Navy after 25 years.

Tanya GoldTanya Gold, MD is board certified in Family & Holistic Medicine and has been in practice for more than 18 years. As Medical Director of Dr. Gold’s Optimal Living Institute, she emphasizes prevention and strongly believes in treating the whole person – getting them well long-term.

Jason GrinsteadJason Grinstead is CEO of Metasense Analytics, which provides artificial intelligence powered data preparation software that enables healthcare companies to turn raw data into useful information and improve clinical, operational, and financial performance.

Maggie JeffersMaggie Jeffers is Campus Administrator for the Jersey College campuses in Tampa and Largo. Jersey College has six campuses in Florida and New Jersey, focusing solely on nursing education.

Renee KellyRenee Kelly is president of Strategic Health Management Solutions, LLC, which offers consulting services to medical practices, attorneys, and other health-related companies. Additionally, she is currently acting CFO of a multi-practice specialty group with locations throughout Florida.

Rob Krug Rob Krug has been in the network engineering and security space for more than 25 years. He is currently a Senior Security Solution Architect for SonicWALL and has been recognized as a SonicWall Security Engineer of the Year.

Joe LallanillaJoe Lallanilla, MBA, is Gracepoint’s Director of Performance Improvement and Analytics and has 28 years of clinical and administrative healthcare experience in the Tampa Bay area. Gracepoint, a private, nonprofit behavioral health system, serves as Hillsborough County’s Baker Act (mental health) and Marchman Act (substance use) central receiving facility.

Maggie Miklos Maggie Miklos has more than 25 years of progressive human resource leadership experience and joined the HCA human resources family in 2004. She is currently the Vice President of Human Resources at HCA-affiliated Largo Medical Center, Largo Medical Center Indian Rocks, and the Clearwater ER.

Matt Pierce Matt Pierce is co-founder and CEO of Tomeah Health, which provides an alternative to traditional home care scheduling methods through an on-demand platform that allows users to efficiently request care and improve transparency in the delivery of in-home services.

Stephen J. Ziegler Stephen J. Ziegler, PhD, JD, is Professor Emeritus of Public Policy at Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Trained as both a social scientist and attorney, he conducts research, provides continuing medical education, and consults on the topics of opioid risk management, the prosecution and defense of prescribers, and the impact of drug regulation and enforcement on the treatment of pain.
