Volunteer class instructors and class leaders are needed for a variety of classes and
activities, such as Computer, Ball Room Dancing, Art, Book Club, Nook & Kindle, Ipod & Iphone,
Mahjong, Cribbage, Board Games and Dominoes. Start a club or lead an activity group; provide health insurance counseling to seniors; lead or join our Special Event and Party Committee to
help with program planning, and much more. Your
CARES Elfers Center is always searching for volun-teer instructors to lead new or existing classes.
Our participants, most of who are retired, enroll in classes seeking to enrich their lives and expand their minds. They bring enthusiasm and diverse backgrounds of knowledge and experience. Some may even teach you something about your subject that you hadn't known before! To get involved, contact the Center and ask
for Charlotte or Cindy at (727) 847-1290

What role does the CARES Elfers Center
play in the life of our neighboring
senior citizens?
It’s a place for older adults to meet together for services and activities that reflect their interest, experience and skills! It’s a place to respond to their diverse needs and interests and to energize their wellness and fitness! It’s a place to support their independence and encourage involvement.
Sound familiar? That has been the mission of the CARES organization for 40 years! To help Seniors Stay At Home, Stay Independent, Stay Informed and Stay Connected.
We invite you to try some of our energizing activities from... Art to Zumba. Play cards, Bingo or bring a craft project that you need to get done. When was the last time you read a book? Our Avery Branch Library is filled with large print books. Experience an exciting day trip or overnight tour! Or share the gift of your time and Volunteer!
Some new activities or re-appearing activities include: Sheila is back with weekly Country Line Dance Lessons and a monthly Country Dance Party. The Pot Lucks are continuing, each week they are growing in numbers and calories (but who is counting)! Bob Lapinski is back with two Monday Tai Chi classes—one is for beginners—you can do it! Zumba returns to Saturday mornings. And the Country Connection Jam Session starts it’s 19th year of Bluegrass, Country Western and Gospel live music on Saturday afternoons! Along with Dulcimer lessons!
It’s all up to “U” ! At our CARES Elfers Center, we can’t spell S CCESS with U ! Come and join the fun! Share your time! And financially support the Center when you can!
