TIGER TALES Welcome 2016 – 2017 Tiny Tigers!!!!! Welcome Tiny Tigers!!! We are looking forward to lots of fun this year! We have a lot of great things planned, and hope to see you and your family at PTA events! If you have any questions for PTA, please leave a note in the front office and someone will contact you ASAP or please contact us from the list below. Please keep in mind we are all volunteers and we will do our best to get back to you quickly.

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities this year too. We will post volunteer opportunities on our Facebook page Erma Nash PTA as well have a sign-up sheet in the office. Please keep in mind that volunteering is not just for parents. We love to have Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, and adult brothers/sisters come and help out. The kids LOVE to have their family come to school, help out and meet their friends!!

NOTICIAS DE LOS TIGRITOS ¡Bienvenidos Tigritos del 2016 – 2017! ¡Bienvenidos Tigritos! ¡Este año vamos a divertirnos mucho! Tenemos muchas y grandiosas cosas planeadas y esperamos verlos a ustedes y sus familias en los eventos de la Asociación de Padres. Si usted tiene alguna pregunta para la Asociación por favor deje una nota en la oficina y alguien lo va a contactar lo más pronto posible. También puede contactarnos directamente en los números listados en esta carta. Por favor recuerde que nosotros somos voluntarios y vamos a tratar de hacer lo mejor posible por regresarle la llamada rápidamente. Vamos a tener muchas oportunidades para servir como voluntarios este año. Vamos a avisar cuales oportunidades tenemos en nuestra página de Facebook de Erma Nash PTA y también tendremos hojas de inscripción en la oficina. Tenga en mente por favor que ser voluntario no es sólo para los padres, nos gustaría que nos ayudaran los abuelos, tíos, tías, hermanos y hermanas. ¡A los niños les encanta ver a su familia en la escuela, que ayude y conozca a sus amiguitos! ¡Esperamos verlos en todas las actividades de la Asociación de Padres!

Dear Erma Nash Families It is with great pride and excitement to welcome you back for the 2016-2017 school year. I hope you and your families enjoyed the summer and are looking forward to the new school year as much as we are. We consider it a great privilege to serve your children and we look forward to fostering a nurturing and fun learning environment filled with high expectations.

This year our theme is “Wild About Learning.” We will continue to celebrate our students, teachers, and staff as they conquer new strategies and skills. Establishing this foundation will create a love of life-long learning for our students.

What’s New for 2016-2017 We will be using various forms of communication to share all the amazing things happening at Erma Nash. A monthly newsletter will be emailed to families about upcoming activities and highlights of past events. There is also an Erma Nash Elementary Facebook page where we will be spotlighting our wonderful students and teachers. We plan on bringing what’s happening in our classrooms to your computers and mobile devices. We encourage you to like and share our page.

Community and parental involvement is a key component to the success of our Tiny Tigers. Our staff welcomes parent, high school, and community volunteers to act as key contributors in supporting the learning and social development of our students. We are asking each

family to volunteer a total of 3o minutes during the 2016-2017 school year. This newsletter will have monthly opportunities listed on ways you can help.

We will be expanding our offerings of after school extra-curricular activities and clubs. During the first six weeks of school, we are going allow our students to vote on clubs they would like to see on our campus. There will be information packets sent home to parents, including the application process. Our building will also be labeled with blue and red signs in English and Spanish. This is a reflection of our Gomez and Gomez Dual Language Program. We serve both English and Spanish speaking students and we want our campus to reflect our diversity. Blue indicates words in English and red indicates words in Spanish. If you happen to be in our building during announcements, you will notice that on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, we recite the American and Texas Pledge of Allegiances in both English and Spanish. We are dedicated to fostering a respect of diversity and cultural awareness in our students.

We are looking forward to a “Wild” year of learning and success. We have an awesome opportunity to develop loving, caring, motivated, and tenacious children. The teachers, staff, and administration at Erma Nash Elementary look forward to partnering with you this school year. Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Estimadas familias de Erma Nash: Les damos la bienvenida a este año escolar 2016-2017 llenos de orgullo y emoción. Esperamos que usted y su familia hayan disfrutado de este verano y tengan muchas ganas de comenzar este año escolar tanto como nosotros. Es nuestro privilegio poder atender a sus hijos y deseamos crear un medio ambiente de aprendizaje divertido y lleno de grandes expectativas.

Este año nuestro tema será “Feroces por aprender”. Vamos a continuar celebrando cuando a nuestros estudiantes, maestros y personal cuando aprendan nuevas estrategias y destrezas. Esto logrará establecer el fundamento para crear en nuestros estudiantes una vida llena de amor hacia el aprendizaje.

¿Qué hay de Nuevo para el 2016-2017? Vamos a usar varios medios de comunicación para compartir todas las cosas maravillosas que pasan en Erma Nash. Cada mes vamos a enviar a todas las familias un boletín informativo por correo electrónico en donde les informaremos sobre las actividades que están por venir y hechos relevantes. También hay una página de Facebook de Erma Nash donde vamos a destacar a nuestros maravillosos estudiantes y maestros. Nuestro plan es usted pueda accesar todas las cosas maravillosas que suceden en nuestros salones desde su computadora o dispositivos móviles. Lo invitamos a que nos obsequien un “Like” y comparta nuestra página. El envolvimiento de la comunidad y los padres es la clave para el éxito de los Tigritos. Nuestro personal da la bienvenida a todos los voluntarios desde los padres, las preparatorias y la comunidad en

general. Ustedes son una parte fundamental de apoyo hacia el aprendizaje y desarrollo social de nuestros estudiantes. Pedimos a cada miembro de la familia a que nos otorgue 30 minutos durante este año escolar sirviendo como voluntario en la escuela. En este boletín incluiremos oportunidades mensuales en las cuales usted podrá ayudar. Vamos a incrementar la oferta de actividades extra curriculares y clubes. Durante las primeras seis semanas de escuela vamos a permitir a que los estudiantes voten por los clubes que les gustaría tener. Vamos a enviar paquetes de información a casa y así como una hoja de inscripción. Nuestro edificio va a estar etiquetado con letreros azules y rojos en inglés y en español. Este es un reflejo del programa de Educación Bilingüe de Gómez y Gómez. Nosotros recibimos a estudiantes que hablan inglés y español y queremos que el plantel refleje nuestra diversidad. El azul indica nuestras palabras en inglés y el rojo nuestras palabras en español. Si usted está de visita en la escuela durante la hora de los anuncios, se dará cuenta de que los lunes, miércoles y viernes vamos a decir el juramento a la bandera tanto en inglés como en español. Estamos dedicados a fomentar en nuestros estudiantes el respeto a la diversidad y crear conciencia sobre otras culturas. Esperamos tener un año fenomenal lleno de aprendizaje y éxito. Esta es una maravillosa oportunidad para educar niños amorosos, motivados y tenaces. Los maestros, el personal y administradores de Erma Nash esperan que usted sea parte de nuestro equipo este año.
