Today’s Message:Beauty in the Wilderness
“David said to Abigail, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet
me. May you be blessed for your good judgement and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own
hands.”” 1 Samuel 25:32-33

1. What significant note is included in v.1 of this chapter that likely had a key role to play in David’s reaction to Nabal?
2. Before Abigail intervened, there is another unnamed person who also played a key role in setting in motion the swing back into Christlikeness. What words would you use to describe this person’s actions?
3. What is beauty? How would you describe it lived out in this passage?
4. What is ugliness? How would you describe it lived out in this passage?
5. Nabal is a fool, no doubt. But what would have made David a fool?
6. What are some other examples of compelling beauty that can knock our shorts off when we are heading in the wrong direction?
7. How does beauty get distorted, devalued or twisted in an evil world?
Exercise: What beautiful things are you aware of in your life right now that have prevented you from making terrible mistakes? Take some time to contemplate something or someone beautiful in your life. Thank God for the privilege of having that beauty.
