PARISH LEADERSHIP COUNCILS CONSEJOS DE LIDERAZGO DE LA PARROQUIA

The Pastoral Council is comprised of leaders from seven different areas of Ministry in the parish and up to 5 additional pastor appointed individuals. This Council is a consultative body that the Pastor can prayerfully reflect with and ask for assistance to guide the overall care and ministry of the parish and the enhancement of its mission. With the Pastor, the Council sets the mission and direction of the parish.

El Consejo Pastoral se compone de siete líderes de los distintos Ministerios en la parroquia y un máximo de otras cinco personas nombradas por el Párroco. Este Consejo es una entidad consultiva con la que el Párroco puede reflexionar espiritualmente y en la que puede pedir ayuda relacionada al cuidado general y el ministerio de la parroquia y el mejoramiento de su misión. Con el Párroco, el Consejo establece la misión y la dirección de la parroquia.

FINANCE COUNCIL CONSEJO DE FINANZAS This Council is an appointed consultative body of parishioners providing advice and recommendations to the Pastor concerning the Stewardship of the parish’s fiscal and temporal resources, including conducting long-range financial planning to support the mission of the parish.

Este Consejo es un órgano consultivo compuesto de feligreses que le ofrecen consejos y recomendaciones al Párroco con respecto a la administración de los recursos fiscales y temporales de la parroquia, entre ellas la realización de largo alcance de planeación financiera para apoyar la misión de la parroquia.

The goal of the Stewardship Council is to energize a greater level of enthusiastic participation in the ministry and spiritual life of St. Theresa Catholic Church, inspiring and inviting parishioners to freely commit to generously SERVE and SHARE as faithful disciples and grateful stewards of Christ. The Stewardship Council reaches out to parishioners for the sharing of their time, talents, and treasure. This Council is comprised of three working teams: Communications Team, Serve Team and Share Team. The Communications Team’s objective is to enhance the way that St. Theresa’s communicates with its parishioners to inform, inspire and engage. The Serve Team’s objective is to increase the involvement of St. Theresa parishioners in and as the Church. And the Share Team’s objective is to increase the giving of St. Theresa’s parishioners, particularly in terms of annual offertory commitment; Archbishop’s Annual Appeal and legacy gifting.

The Pastor seeks advice and counsel from three leadership councils (Pastoral Council, Finance Council and Stewardship Council) and the Liturgy Committee in order to guide the mission and direction of the parish of St. Theresa’s. Each council is responsible for developing and executing the strategic plan for a specific area of parish life and ministry within the parameters of its responsibility.

LITURGY COMMITTEE The Liturgy Committee works with the priests to plan all special Masses, workshops, and implement the rules for Liturgical ministries and is made up of all leaders of Liturgical Ministries.

El Comité Litúrgico trabaja con los sacerdotes para planificar todas las Misas especiales, talleres, e implementar las nuevas normas para los ministerios litúrgicos y está compuesta de todos los líderes de los Ministerios Litúrgicos.

El propósito del Consejo de Corresponsabilidad es dinamizar el mayor nivel de participación entusiasta en el Ministerio y la vida espiritual de la Iglesia Católica de Sta. Teresita, a fin de inspirar e invitar a los feligreses a SERVIR Y COMPARTIR generosamente como discípulos fieles y agradecidos corresponsables de Cristo. El Consejo de Corresponsabilidad ayuda a los feligreses con la distribución de su tiempo, talento y tesoro. † Be Welcoming ~ Say hello and introduce yourself to those you encounter. Smile at people. If you are sitting on the end of a pew, move over when someone else comes to sit instead of making them crawl over you to get to the middle seats. Be compassionate and kind to others - they may be having a worse day than you know and your kindness may make a world of difference!

† Get Involved ~ Use the talents and gifts God has blessed you with for the good of the parish. Take a part in the liturgical ministries by joining the choir, serving as an usher or Mass captain or as an Extraordinary Minister or Altar Server. Be enthusiastic at Mass and respond loud and clear when saying Amen or joining in the prayer or song! Join a prayer group or social group at St. Theresa’s and get to know your fellow parishioners. Your presence makes it better. It would be wonderful if every member of our parish was engaged in at least ONE ministry. We would become a much more vibrant and involved parish working to fulfill our baptismal promise as one in the Lord accomplishing God’s Will!

† Attend Parish Events ~ Our parish ministries, events and activities exist to increase spirituality and strengthen God’s community here on earth. When we attend parish events, we get to know each other better and we become more connected and engaged! Invite your friends, even your non-Catholic ones, to attend activities and events with you! Let them see some of the good things we do as a parish and have to offer each other as a community.

† Support Our Parish ~ The Church relies on every one of its members to give financially to support God’s mission. Giving money is more than just a financial obligation. If you truly recognize and acknowledge that you and everything you have is a blessing, a gift from God, you will start to see that giving generously to continue God’s work in the parish is a vital part of your spirituality. Amazingly you will always receive more than you give when you give to God generously.

† Pray For Our Parish ~ Please keep our pastor and priest, our parish staff and our parishioners and their loved ones in your daily prayers. Doing so will reap rewards not just for our parish, but for each of us personally. We will begin to see ourselves as spiritual support for each other, our community, and all the good works being done throughout. Please also pray for the return of those Catholics who have fallen away from the practice of their baptismal faith; pray for people with no faith and for people who are constantly searching for meaning and purpose in their life.

GIFT SHOP TIENDA DE REGALOS

The Gift Shop is located in the Narthex of our church and offers religious articles, gifts, books, and cards for sale. It is open after all weekend Masses and is staffed by parish volunteers for 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the Mass they attend. With the growth of our parish and increase in masses, this ministry needs new volunteers. This is a wonderful way to SERVE our Lord and get to know more of the parishioners here at St. Theresa. We would love to have more dedicated people to help with this Ministry and would welcome you to our team if you are interested in working at the Gift Shop. Please call the office for more information.

La Tienda de Regalos está localizada en el Nártex de nuestra Iglesia y ofrece artículos religiosos, regalos, libros y tarjetas a la venta a un buen precio. MAINTENANCE MINISTRY- GROUNDS AND BUILDINGS

Maintenance Ministry makes repairs, and/or finds others capable of doing repairs that are beyond our skills. The Church grounds must also be kept in a neat and well-maintained manner for it is the Lord’s house. God has called each of us to this Ministry and we strive to do our best to keep St. Theresa’s in good working condition. Any help you can give to the Maintenance Ministry, whether an hour or longer, would be greatly appreciated. We also maintain the Rectory and clean and service the Church, the Parish Life Center and the Religious Education classrooms.

OFFICE HELP - DOCUMENT TRANSLATOR AYUDA EN LA OFICINA-TRADUCCIONES

We need volunteers to assist with general office duties during normal working hours. Training is provided depending on the task. Time commitment varies. We especially need help with translating documents from English to Spanish, so if you are bilingual, we need you! If you want to help at Church but are not sure what your talents are, your time can always be put to good use in the office. From stuffing envelopes or bulletins, making copies, shredding documents, answering phones or just helping someone who comes in to make an appointment, we welcome your help!

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GRUPO DE AMIGOS

This ministry provides meals and fellowship for bereaved families and the sick. Stewards are asked to furnish various parts of a meal to be served to family and friends following a funeral Mass. They may also be asked to provide portions of a meal for sick parishioners. Meals may be served for the family at their home or at the Parish Hall. Stewards are requested to take their food items to the site of the meal. The time commitment for this stewardship varies dependent upon parishioners’ needs. Stewards are also needed for site preparation, serving and cleanup when meals are provided at the Parish Hall.

Proveen comida y hospitalidad a miembros de nuestra parroquia que han perdido algún ser querido. A los miembros del grupo se les pide traer comida para una recepción a los familiares y amigos después de la Misa fúnebre. También se les pide llevar comida a los feligreses enfermos. COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN (CCW)

This Council is an affiliate of the Atlanta Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women. It is a charitable, educational, and social organization open to all women of the parish. All registered women of the parish are members of the CCW. There are no dues to be in this council. We would like to encourage more ladies to become active members of the C.C.W. We have monthly "Lunch Bunch" meetings at a local area restaurant. The C.C.W. selects a parishioner as Woman of the Year to be honored at the annual Recognition Day Mass and reception.

Afiliadas al Consejo Arquidiocesano de Mujeres Católicas de Atlanta. Una organización caritativa, educacional y social abierta para todas las damas de la parroquia. The Knights of Columbus is an international fraternal organization of Catholic men age 18 years and older who support charities throughout the parish and community. This is a group of Catholic men whose faith, fellowship, and philanthropy make up the foundation upon which the Knights of Columbus stand. Our programs and projects make a difference in the church, our community and to those less fortunate in our community.

Los Caballeros de Colón es una organización fraternal internacional de hombres católicos mayores de18 años quienes ayudan en obras de caridad tanto en la parroquia como en la comunidad. PARISH SOCIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE COMITÉ DE EVENTOS SOCIALES

This committee organizes, plans, and provides support for parish events. Volunteers are needed to assist with food preparation, serving, event setup and cleanup.

SQUIRES (JR. DIVISION OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS)

This is the youth division of the Knights of Columbus for boys ages 10–17.

The Welcoming Committee is a team of active parishioners who greet and extend a warm welcome to newly registered members of St. Theresa’s. The group contacts new members, answers questions and invites new parishioners to join ministries in the parish as a way of being part of the St. Theresa family. Our ministry goal is to make individuals and families joining our parish feel that they are a part of the community and find ways to channel their time and talents into serving our Lord. Volunteers are needed to make the quarterly Welcome Reception a success.

El Comité de Bienvenida es un grupo de parroquianos activos que le ofrecen una cálida bienvenida a los nuevos miembros que se han registrado en Santa Teresita. El grupo se pone en contacto con los nuevos miembros, responde a sus preguntas los invita a que participen en los ministerios de la parroquia como una manera de ser parte de la familia de esta parroquia. El Ministerio de la Virgen de Guadalupe esta encargado de la planeación y ejecución de la celebración. Es un trabajo que requiere la cooperación de toda la comunidad. Coordinamos junto con el Párroco y otros Ministerios los horarios de la Misa y de las Mañanitas.

R.A.S.C.A.L.S. R.A.S.C.A.L.S. (Relaxing Adult Senior Citizens and Leisurely Services): This is an age 55 and over group of our parish who meet once a month in the parish hall for a relaxing afternoon of fellowship, food and fun.

ANNULMENT CASE SPONSOR

The case sponsor gives one-on-one pastoral support and practical assistance during the phases of the annulment process. Parishioners with special training by the Archdiocesan Tribunal serve at the request of the pastor.

PSR CATECHIST GRADES PREK - 6 CATEQUISTA PARA EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA PARA GRADOS PREK - 6° Strengthen your faith knowledge and help our children learn and understand the Catholic faith through teachings that include preparation for baptism, communion, and confession. Volunteers are needed to teach as catechists (teachers), catechist aides, and substitute catechists. We also need hall monitors for all class times to escort children and run papers, etc. Annual training and background checks are required of all Catechists.

This process prepares couples for Holy Matrimony. Married couples are needed to volunteer to work with engaged couples planning marriage. Engaged Encounter and Sponsor Couples help prepare engaged couples for the experience of Christian marriage.

The goal of our teen ministry is to create a positive experience of the Catholic faith for our middle and high school parishioners. They grow and build their faith through retreats and service to the community. Volunteers are needed to be leaders, chaperones, mentors, and cooks. This program calls teens into a deeper and fuller relationship with Jesus Christ. Teens experience the love of Jesus through community, God’s word and the Eucharist. Teens are challenged to live the Gospel in their daily lives and encounters. Assistance with various service projects and fundraising activities is needed throughout the year, including summer. Background checks are required.

La meta del Ministerio Juvenil en Santa Teresita es crear una experiencia positiva de la Fé Católica para los adolescentes. Our Music Ministry begins and centers on the Eucharistic Sacrifice. Always joyful and upbeat, each person’s participation strengthens and nourishes one another’s faith. We need dedicated people who are willing to share their time and talents—vocal and instrumental—with our faith community as cantors and choir members.

ALTAR SOCIETY/LINENS MINISTRY

The Altar Society is responsible for maintaining the altar and the linens that are used at Mass and worn by the clergy. Assignments are rotated on a monthly basis.

These ministers lead parishioners in welcoming our newcomers and visitors, reciting the St. Theresa Rose Prayer and reading the announcements before and after Mass. Two hour annual workshop required.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR CORO DE NIÑOS This is a fun ministry for elementary school children. They learn the joy of singing at weekly rehearsals and sing once a month throughout the school year at the 10:00 AM Children’s Mass. All children must be active in a faith formation class through the parish, Catholic school or an approved home school curriculum.

This group is responsible for assisting the Director of Faith Formation and the Director of Music with preparing our young children to present the story of the Lord’s Nativity at the Children’s Christmas Eve Mass on December 24th each year. Weekly rehearsals are held from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF THE EUCHARIST

MINISTERIO EXTRAORDINARIO DE LA SANTA COMUNIÓN

In 1973, Diocesan Bishops were authorized to commission Catholic laity to distribute Communion during Mass. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EOMs) are trained in all aspects of the distribution of Holy Communion. They assist the priest during Mass in sharing the body and blood of Christ with their fellow worshipers. Ministers must be fully initiated Roman Catholics who possess a willingness to be of service to the community founded in the love of God. Training consists of an initial 2-4 hour Liturgical Workshop to receive a 3 year certification from the Archdiocese. Ongoing training is required to renew certification.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF THE EUCHARIST FOR THE SICK/HOMEBOUND Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EOMs) for the Sick and Homebound take Communion to the sick or dying who are unable to attend Mass to receive the holy Eucharist. LECTORS LECTORES This ministry offers members of the parish the opportunity to read at parish liturgies. A two-hour training workshop is offered and encouraged for all lectors. They are also encouraged to study good techniques in proclaiming the Word of the Lord to the congregation. Lectors serve at weekday and all weekend Masses and at special liturgies.

MASS CAPTAINS COORDINADORES DE LAS MISAS Men, women, and mature teens are needed for all weekend Masses and other liturgical functions to help account for the presence of all ministers of the Mass and to find replacements prior to the start of Mass for any unfilled positions. The Mass Captain’s role is important in ensuring that all Minister positions are covered to help the Mass flow smoothly.

DECORATING COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for organizing and decorating the church for the Easter and Christmas seasons and for special liturgical celebrations.

USHERS UJIERES Men, women, and mature teens are needed for all weekend Masses and other liturgical functions to help meet, greet, and seat parishioners and visitors. Children may usher at the Children’s liturgy. The usher’s role is important in creating an atmosphere of hospitality and friendliness among members of the assembly.

Necesitamos hombres, mujeres y jóvenes para ayudar en las Misas dominicales y otras funciones litúrgicas. Los ujieres ayudan a dar la bienvenida, acomodar, organizar la fila para la comunión, hacer la colecta en las Misas y verificar que el Santuario este limpio, y todas las puertas estén con seguro en la iglesia y salón parroquial después de la Misa.

WEDDING COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for assisting the officiating Priest and the wedding couple to ensure that the wedding ceremony runs smoothly and everyone enjoys a spirit of hospitality during this very special occasion. The parish wedding consultant meets with the bride and groom prior to their wedding day to help them understand the guidelines and procedures for their very special Sacrament. They assist the Priest at the rehearsal and on the day of the wedding the consultant pair open the Church, prepare the altar cloths, welcome the wedding party, florist and photographer, and line up the couples for the start of the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony is finished, the consultants change the altar cloths, make sure the church and dressing rooms are cleaned and made ready for the next scheduled Mass.

COMITÉ DE BODAS

Este comité es responsable de ayudar al sacerdote oficiante y a la pareja asegurándose que la ceremonia se realice sin contratiempo y que todos disfruten en un espíritu de hospitalidad durante esta ocasión tan especial. La coordinadora de bodas de la Parroquia se reúne con la pareja antes del día de la boda para ayudarles a comprender las guías y procedimientos de este Sacramento tan especial. Ellos asisten al sacerdote, en el ensayo, el día de la boda la coordinadora abre las puertas de la Iglesia, prepara el altar, le da la bienvenida al cortejo nupcial, florista, fotógrafo y organiza la entrada del cortejo y la pareja antes del comienzo de la ceremonia matrimonial. Después de la ceremonia los coordinadores desvisten el Altar, se aseguran que la Iglesia y los vestidores estén limpios y preparados para la próxima Misa.

QUINCEAÑERAS

Ofrece formación y preparación para las jovencitas en vía de celebrar sus Quince Años. Orienta a los padres en los detalles de la celebración.

SOCIAL OUTREACH MINISTRIES MINISTERIOS DE AYUDA A LA COMUNIDAD

PRISON MINISTRY MINISTERIO DE LA PRISIÓN

The mission of this ministry is to bring the Word of God to inmates and the Body and Blood of Christ to those who are Catholic and otherwise would not have any way to receive the Eucharist. This ministry serves those inmates held in Douglas County jails. Requirements for this ministry are: you must be a mature, caring adult knowledgeable in the Catholic faith; you must be authorized as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist; and pass background checks by the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to become a member of the Chaplain staff. This ministry reaches out to all denominations and answers questions raised about the Church’s teachings; however, we do not attempt to convert anyone to Catholicism. Monday morning prayer services are led by the volunteer and are limited to 1 hour.

La misión de este ministerio es la de traer la palabra de Dios y el Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo a los prisioneros que son Católicos quienes de otra manera no hubieran podido recibir la Eucaristía. Este ministerio sirve a los prisioneros del condado de Douglas. Los requerimientos para este ministerio son: Ser un adulto maduro, afectuoso con conocimiento de la fe Católica; debes tener autorización como un ministro extraordinario de la Sagrada Eucaristía; y pasar la verificación de antecedentes de la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta y de el departamento de la comisaría del condado de Douglasville para ser miembro del personal del capellán. Este ministerio le extiende la mano a todas las denominaciones y da respuesta a las preguntas sobre las enseñanzas de la Iglesia, sin embargo no tratamos de convertirlos al Catolicismo. Las oraciones son dirigidas por un voluntario los lunes en las mañanas por una hora como limite.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

This ministry promotes the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church. Its mission is to advance a culture of life in the community by providing information and supporting pro-life organizations and events. Volunteers are always needed.

Este ministerio vive y promulga la enseñanza de pro-vida de la Iglesia Católica. Su misión es aumentar la cultura de pro-vida en la comunidad proporcionando información y apoyar a las organizaciones y eventos de pro-vida.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY SOCIEDAD DE ST. VICENTE DE PAUL The vision of this society is to change the face of charity by offering hope as well as help to all through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The goal of this ministry is to give temporary and emergency financial and food assistance to those who are in need. Meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month. May be asked to visit 2-4 clients per month depending on volume of need requests. Background checks are required.

La Visión de esta sociedad es la de cambiar la manera en que percibimos lo que es caridad ofreciendo esperanza como también ayuda a través del guía del espíritu santo. El objetivo de este Ministerio es la de ofrecer en casos de emergencia asistencia temporal con alimentos y financieramente a aquellos que los necesiten. Comprobación de antecedentes es necesario.

Las reuniones se celebran el tercer martes de cada mes. Visitar de 2-4 clientes por mes dependiendo del volumen de las necesidades. Verificación de antecedentes es necesario.

DIVINE MERCY PRAYER GROUP DIVINA MISERICORDIA The Divine Mercy Prayer Group Ministry is a prayer and study group dedicated to the Divine Mercy Devotion. This group meets on Friday evenings beginning with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and moving to the Parish Life Center for further prayer and study. The group will also pray at the side of the sick and dying. All are welcome!

Fomenta la devoción a la Divina Misericordia, reza la coronilla después de cada misa de Lunes a Domingo. Este grupo se reúne el viernes en la tarde empezando con la Adoración Al Santísimo Sacramento luego se trasladan al Salón del Centro de Vida para orar y estudiar. Rezan por los enfermos y los que están en peligro de muerte. Todos son bienvenidos!

ELIJAH CUP MINISTRY FAMILY

Each Sunday at the Children’s Mass and the Teen Mass, a family (who signs up in advance) takes the Elijah Cup into their home and places it in a prominent space to use as a focal point while praying daily for an increase in religious vocations.

COPA DE ELÍAS

Cada Domingo en la Misa de los niños y de los jóvenes, una familia (que se inscribe con anticipación) se lleva el Cáliz de Elías a su hogar y la coloca en un lugar de prominencia y la utiliza como un punto de enfoque mientras rezan diariamente por el aumento de vocaciones religiosas.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION GUARDIAN ADORACIÓN AL SANTÍSIMO

Jesus asked, “Could you not spend one hour with me?” The Eucharistic Adoration Ministry offers each member of the parish an opportunity for an hour of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament—the Living God. The beautiful part of this is that there are no rules except that the Blessed Sacrament must never be left alone and the time spent is in peaceful repose! You may spend time with Jesus in whatever form of quiet prayer that you prefer or simply in listening to the Lord. Those who commit time each Friday are called “Guardians of the Blessed Sacrament”. This ministry is a source of many blessings for our parish family. In this ministry, we have opportunities for weekly guardians and for substitutes who are called occasionally as needed. If you are unable to actively participate in this ministry, please know we welcome visitors to the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel at any time. “Come when you can and leave when you must”.

Jesús pregunto, “No puedes pasar una hora conmigo?” El Ministerio de Adoración Eucarística ofrece a cada miembro de la Parroquia la oportunidad de una hora de oración frente al Sagrado Sacramento-El Dios Viviente. La parte mas hermosa de esto es que no hay reglas con la excepción de que El Sagrado Sacramento nunca debe permanecer solo y el tiempo debe pasarse en tranquilidad y reposo! Puedes pasar el tiempo con Jesús en cualquier tipo de oración en silencio que prefieras ó simplemente escuchando al Señor. Aquellos que se comprometen cada viernes son llamados “Guardianes de El Sagrado Sacramento.” Este Ministerio es la fuente de muchas bendiciones para nuestra familia parroquial. En este Ministerio tenemos oportunidades para guardianes semanales y substitutos quienes son llamados ocasionalmente. LEGION OF MARY (LEGIO MARIAE) LEGIÓN DE MARÍA The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The Legion of Mary Praesidium (parish group or unit) holds a weekly meeting where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. The members participate in the life of the parish through prayer, visitation of families and the sick and through collaboration in every apostolic work and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every Legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.

El objeto de la Legión de María es glorificar a Dios a través de la santidad de sus miembros desarrollado por medio de oración y cooperación activa con la Virgen María y la labor de la Iglesia. La Legión de María Praesidium (grupo parroquial) se reúne una vez a la semana para orar y presentar reportes. Los miembros participan en la vida de la parroquia a través de oraciones, visitas a los enfermos y colaboran en todo trabajo apostólico y tareas misioneras patrocinadas por la parroquia. Es requerido que todo legionario haga un trabajo apostólico semanal en el espíritu de fe y en unión con la Virgen María.

PASIÓN DE CRISTO

Coordina la presentación en vivo de la Pasión de Cristo que se hace cada año en Cuaresma, el Viernes Santo.

RENOVACIÓN CARISMÁTICA Se reúnen los días sábados de 5:00 pm a 6:30 pm para alabar y glorificar al Señor. Leen la palabra de Dios, meditan el mensaje y oran por los enfermos.
