A person who owns, leases or uses a propane gas system and who is a customer of a retail supplier shall no�fy the retail supplier of propane gas for the propane gas system of any interrup�on in the opera�on of the propane gas system due to the replacement, modifica�on, repair or servicing of the propane gas system by any person other than the retail supplier. The customer shall provide the no�ce at least 7 days in advance of the interrup�on in opera�on of the propane gas system, except as provide in subd 2. The retail supplier or the person replacing, modifying, repairing or servicing the propane gas system, shall perform a check for leaks or other defects in the propane gas system before placing the propane gas system back into opera�on in the manner required by rule. 101.16(4)(b) 2. If the interrup�on of a propane gas system subject of subd 1 is due to emergency repair or servicing, the customer shall provide the no�ce to the retail supplier as soon as possible, and no later than 24-hours a�er the repair or servicing is completed. 101.16(1)(c) “Propane gas system” means an assembly consis�ng of one or more containers that has a total water capacity of at least 100 gallons and a means of conveying propane gas from the container or containers to a point of connec�on with devices used to consume the propane gas. A “propane gas system” includes all piping and other components associated with the assembly that are used to control the quan�ty, flow, pressure and physical state of the propane gas. CONTRACTOR/DO-IT-YOURSELF WORK ON A GAS SYSTEM: Any gas appliance or gas piping installed, serviced, altered, replace and/or taken out of service/ abandoned, or any gas container added, moved, replaced or taken out of service must be performed by a qualified person. These ac�ons must meet the codes required by state, county and local authority having jurisdic�on. If any of the abovemen�oned events have occurred, it must be communicated to LAKES GAS immediately. Call your local LAKES GAS office to see that any change in your gas system is performed properly by a qualified technician. In an Emergency: SHUT TANK OFF To locate the shutovalve, follow the gas line (A) from the ground to the regulator (B) under the hood. Turn the valve (C) clockwise to shut o. A A A A B C Never keep a full cylinder inside a hot vehicle or transport it inside a closed trunk. Always place the cylinder in a well venlated area. Never store or place a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed or tent. Never store or place a propane cylinder in an area of excessive heat (120 or higher) or near a ° stove, replace or other heat source. Never store spare cylinder under/near a BBQ grill. Do Not smoke or allow any ignion source in the area while handling or transporng cylinders. Grilling Season is here! Safety Tips for Your BBQ Cylinder Small cylinders should be transported in an upright, secured posion so they will not fall, shior roll. The National Propane Gas Association recommends that all propane gas systems be inspected every five years. A GSSI consists of a technician checking your system from the tank to your appliances for leaks and code compliancy. Lakes Gas offers GSSl's at a discounted rate during the summer months. All customers that have not had a GSSI in the last five years will be receiving a notice in the mail this spring. If it has been over five years since your last system check, please contact your Lakes Gas office to set up an appointment.
