Assalamu-alaikum, Ramadan Mubarak to you and your family.

As we welcome Ramadan, we look forward to a month of blessings and mercy and the opportunity to perform good deeds and recharge our souls with the Love of Allah (swt) and His beloved Prophet (pbuh). No doubt, this year, the long hot summer days will add an extra challenge, May Allah (swt) make it easy to perform your fasts.

The Zia ul Ummah Foundation is working in collaboration with Dar-ul-Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia to promote Islam peacefully in the world. There are 25,000 boys and girls who are students in this Islamic educational system who are learning to memorise the Quran and receive Islamic education absolutely free. Over two thousand students are being educated in the main branch itself and their budgeted costs are around £425,000 per annum. We have introduced 4 new BSc. (Hons.) courses to further enhance the capabilities of our Islamic scholars.

At the Zia ul Ummah Foundation, it has been a year of activity and excitement. There have been 214 boys and 125 girls who have completed courses along with 30 students who have memorised the Quran. With your generous support we have been able to purchase and open the Zia ul Ummah Centre in Birmingham, which is fast becoming an important service in the area. I hope that you will support the centre’s improvement project which will cost £40,000 and include a new wudu area, new carpets, classroom furniture, IT equipment, roof repairs and double glazing.

You are presented with many good charitable causes to give to and I understand that so many choices from various worthy organisations can be overwhelming, especially as many of them focus on ‘saving lives’. This Ramadan, we urge you to remember saving the Iman and souls of our future generations. I hope that you will keep our projects at the forefront of your mind when giving your Zakat, Sadaqah and Fit’rana.

My Duas are with you and your family. May Allah (swt) accept our efforts, this year and beyond, Ameen.

Wa’Salaam,Shaykh Muhammad Amin al Hasnat Shah Chairman

Feeding the hungry has a very specific reward in Islam.

The Prophet (pbuh) said that the best action is:

“To feed (the hungry) and to say Salaam to those you recognise and those you don’t.” (HADITH IN SAHIH BUKHARI)

During special celebratory days of the year including every Friday, we provide the poor and needy with a hot nutritious meal. Without any distinction of gender, age, race, colour, cast or religion, thousands of people have benefitted from this service for many years.

Feeding the needy invites Allah’s blessing in your life and Rizq. Please help us to feed the less fortunate today.

The month of Ramadan is a special prize from Allah. It is mentioned in the Hadith books that the generosity of the Prophet (pbuh) was present all year around but it took on a wholly new level during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Please help us to provide the needy a meal to open their fast. This year our aim is to provide meals for 10,000 people.

HOLY PROPHET’S (PBUH) FAMILY

There are thousands of members of the Prophet’s (pbuh) family who are living below the poverty line but do not ask for charitable handouts.

Abu Huraira narrated that Al-Hasan bin ‘Ali took a date from the dates given in charity and put it in his mouth. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Expel it from your mouth. Don’t you know that we do not eat a thing which is given in charity.”

We also have many students and scholars descended from the Prophet’s (pbuh) family who do not accept Zakah but could be sponsored as a gift to them. The Prophet (pbuh) gave and received gifts throughout his blessed life and instructed thus: “Give gifts and you shall love one another.”

Show your love for the Prophet’s (pbuh) family and give them a gift today from as little as £50

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

‘Whoever provides food or drink to someone to break their fast, will be rewarded with forgiveness and salvation from Hell fire. He will receive the same reward as the one who was fasting. This reward is not just for feeding one a whole feast but Allah’s mercy rewards one the same if he provides another a single sip of water or portion of a date!’(HADITH NARRATED BY SALMAN ñ)

The Noble Quran is a book of guidance for mankind. Allah has illuminated the hearts of the Huffaz with it. Recitation of this book and spreading its message are the most rewarding actions anyone can perform in this world. These are such blessings that can change the destiny of man.

Allah’s religion will remain fresh in every age. Scholars of each age will need to perform their responsibility to teach it. Islam is not the name of a stagnant religion but has the flexibility to be represented in every age according to the needs of that age.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said,

“The best amongst you are those who learn and teach the Quran.” Sahih al-Bukhari 5027, Book 66, Hadith 49.

When the learning and teaching of this holy Quran is so respected, providing support to spread its message in the world will surely be as rewarded as well.

Allah (swt) says,

“Who speaks better than someone who calls people to Allah, does what is right, and says ‘I am one of those devoted to Allah’, Good and evil cannot be equal.” Al-Quran 41:33

The Zia ul Ummah foundation is working tirelessly in providing courses of memorisation and recitation of the Quran.

Due to the high standard of secular and scientific education, Muslims also demand a higher level of Scholars who can fulfil intellectual voids and pass on, with intellect and dedication, the peaceful and just teachings of Islam to all humanity. To this end, the Zia ul Ummah Foundation runs a unique ‘Scholar Programme.’

In the ‘Scholar Programme’, all male and female students of Religious Education receive FA, BA, B.Sc. Hons and MA scholarships so that their understanding of the secular subjects is also as deep as their Islamic degrees.

Please support us in this noble cause to ensure that we have the best trained Islamic Scholars possible.

TO DONATE

After the declaration of Faith and Salah, Zakah is the third Tennent of Islam. Purely a worship through financial sacrifice, it has been compulsory in all the previous prophets’ laws and whoever fulfils the requirements of Nisab* is eligible to give Zakah.

ZAKAH PROJECT

This is the wonder of Allah (swt) that he provides everything that we have, then upon sharing that provision with others, He rewards us.

The purpose of Zakah is for us to purify our wealth. Where He has instructed us to give Zakah, He has also warned us of the consequences of not giving Zakah.

Allah (swt) mentions in the Quran:

“Those who are miserly with what Allah has granted them out of His grace should not think that it is good for them, on the contrary it is bad for them. Whatever they meanly withhold will be hung around their necks on the Day of Resurrection. It is Allah who will inherit the heavens and earth: Allah is well aware of everything you do.” 3:180

Abdullah bin Umar (ra) explains that the blessed Messenger (pbuh) said:

‘Whoever doesn’t give Zakah from his wealth, will on the Day of Judge-ment have it placed around his neck in the shape of a poisonous snake.’

Aisha (ra) says:

‘I heard the Messenger (pbuh) saying, “When Zakah mixes with any other wealth it destroys it all.’ Mishkat ul Masabih.

By giving Zakah to the needy, the wealthy is not doing any favour on him, but actually, is returning the wealth to its rightful owner, which Allah (swt) had entrusted him with. Zakah is not just a one off payment but is a permanent act of worship through financial means which brings one closer to Allah (swt) and His pleasure.

*ANYONE WHO HAS 600 GRAMS OF SILVER OR EQUIVALENT IN MONEY OR ANYONE WHO HAS 87 GRAMS OF GOLD OR EQUIVALENT IN MONEY

Please give your Zakah to the Zia ul Ummah Foundation, we will ensure it is spent on the deserving categories and pray that it ‘cleanses’ your wealth and

brings relief and joy to many needy recipient.
