Undertakingan EnTA
Key Objectives of Session
• The following sessions are designed to familiarise you with the EnTA methodology, and with the worksheets that facilitate completion of an EnTA.
• By the end of these sessions you will have an understanding of the EnTA process and requirements of the EnTA Workbook.
The EnTA Process
EnTA Preparation
• Establish the goals of the assessment, along with identification of the ways these goals will be achieved.
• Secure the commitment of key players in the assessment.
• Identify the resources (financial, human, technical etc) that are available to the assessment team.
Step 1
Technology Description
Name of the technology system: Neutralisation and steam stripping
Step 1: Description of Technology
Surrounding land use: Industrial Estate with mix of light and heavy industrySite location: East Industrial Estate, Udanax City, Udanax
b. Identify and characterise the existing or proposed location of the technology:
a. Identify the nature and function of the technology
Function of the technology: The treatment of spent caustic from Ana Plastics
Natural hazards: None of consequenceNatural environmental features: Flat land, 10km from the coastSurrounding community: On the northwest border of the estate middle class residence
3.
As above
What must the technology achieve? Identify the beneficiaries & other stakeholders?
d. In order of importance, identify the principal achievement goals for this technology and the beneficiaries and stakeholders.
1. A treatment system that meets the requirements of the Water Pollution Regulations (1981) regarding the discharge of effluents.
Plant owners and operators, plant workers, central and municipal government and Udanax public
2. No or acceptable environmental impacts from the treated wastewater discharged from the plant
