Outcomes
King Abdullah InsKtute for NANO Technology • Performing research and development in the fields of energy, water treatment, telecommunica<ons, medicine, pharmacy, food, environment and study of nano material proper<es.
• building design was inspired by the concept of nanotechnology and its components (core and rota<on of electrons and protons).
• focused on research projects that could poten<ally par<cipate in knowledge-‐based economy
PSATRI is founded by King Saud University (KSU) and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and obtained the approval of the Minister of Defense in 2008.

Renewable Energy (RE) at KSA & Role of RTV/KSU
• High Demand for Energy: Rapid growth of popula<on and the need to generate Energy to sa<sfy the demand [Sustainable solu<on]
• Aligned with RTV strategy to develop projects in RE and contribu<ng to the knowledge based economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. o Collabora@on between RTV/KSU and RE na<onal private companies including Taqa< o Partnership to create poten<al opportuni<es for developing first Independent Power Provider (IPP) at 10 Mega WaWs Hours using RE projects at KSA.
Renewable Energy (RE) at KSA & Role of RTV/KSU
Prepared MOU and agreement with TaqaK and Marifat companies to develop Pilot project & Funded by Investment company Al-‐Asasyah [Integrated of RE technologies]
• Phase 1: PV, Horizontal and VerKcal Wind technologies [Completed the implementaKon & operaKon, Further test to be conducted]
• Phase 2: CPV and CSP [Design & procurement in progress]
ConducKng Feasibility Studies to develop 10 Mega Waes hour project at RTV and KSU. [ Technical analysis & Design, MarkeKng & industries analysis]
• RTV/KSU team, CIC technical team, B&V Strategy & MarkeKng team
VALUE CREATION
• partnership with technological companies
• financial insKtuKons • UniversiKes, and developers
VALUE PROPOSITION
• through job creaKon • environmental green soluKon and Leed cerKficate
• Resource conservaKon (fuel)
• market and investment return
• saKsfying KSA energy demand
MARKET POTENTIAL
• idenKfying customer segments
• building customer relaKonships
• developing RE projects
• selling of RE and soluKon to relevant parKes including ministries, companies and organizaKons
Renewable Energy at KSA & Role of RTV/KSU – Why TaqaK project?
• Water supply and distribuKon in Saudi Arabia is the responsibility of either the SWCC (Saline Water Conversion CorporaKon) or NWC (NaKonal Water Company).
• High Demand for Water: arid climate, rapid economic and industrial growth, increase of life standards, and water shortage is crucial [3,800,000 m3/day or about 56 percent increase between 2010 and 2035].
• Water sources and supplies (excluding water used for agriculture and industrial purposes) are around 5237 000 m3/day from which 53.5 % comes from desalinaKon water supply.
• Few companies provide mobile drinking water trailer systems (MDTS) soluKon in KSA including “Riyadh Water Authority at Manfouha plant, Research InsKtute of Saline Water Conversion CorporaKon (SWCC) in Al-‐Jubail, and Aramco. Supplying Companies include Siemens, Akar Mobile Water Treatment (AMWAT), AEROMIX -‐ Mobile Water PurificaKon Units (WPUs), LS3-‐M20K Plaoorm Series, Nly Mobile Water Treatment System, and OSMO SISTEMI S.r.l.

MOBILE DRINKING WATER TRAILER SYSTEM -‐ MTDS with Kitech-‐SYNOPEX WATER
CollaboraKon between RTV/KSU & Kitech
• MOU with Kitech (2012) [evaluate area of collaboraKon: DesalinaKon FaciliKes, Solar Energy, Base Metals, Packaging, Auto Component Industries]
• Agreement with Kitech (2013): o TO INVETSIGATE THE APPLICABILITY OF MOBILE DRINKING WATER TRAILER SYSTEM (MDTS) AT SAUDI ARABIA
o Build a strong naKonal scienKfic and technology base that is able to innovate and be creaKve in order to move toward knowledge economy.
o RTV/KSU team to collect relevant data at KSA to test the MDTS technology concept at Kitech test bed system
o Aligned to RTV Strategy in Knowledge & technology transfer
CollaboraKon between RTV/KSU & Kitech
BENEFITS
• Mobile solu@on: Provide stable and edible water at construc<on site and emergency site which needs clean water, and regions isolated from electrical infrastructure
• Flexible: Door to Door service and Emergency Resilient
• Flexible: Door to Door service and Emergency Resilient
• Adaptable to KSA environment: Using on-‐site water source and produce drinking water
• Easy to move: Compact design with small footprint
• Compe@@ve Advantage: Cost compeKKve to exis<ng product in KSA market, and high quality differenKaKon
OPPORTUNITIES
• for Building local skills and experience in domain of MTDS
• for transfer of knowledge and technology from Korean InsKtute and industries
• for training students in the domain of smart mobile water system
• to collaborate with KSU researchers to improve the research capabiliKes
• to develop and operate MTDS at RTV/KSU in Riyadh and its suburbs
• to collaborate and market the MTDS soluKon for companies and investors in KSA
