Vijeo Citect's seamless data flow and Vijeo Historian’s open connectivity and secure reporting consolidate and deliver the information you need in an easy-to-use interface.

Data visibility Making data available to the right people anywhere at any time is not simply about placing data within the database. Its about exposing the data in the correct clients and in the correct format for the user to be able to access and understand.

The Microsoft Excel client provides engineers and operation managers with all the calculation tools they need to model and analyse production. It brings real-time data into these models to increase their understanding of the process and monitor it for change.

For other applications, such as business systems integration or data analysis, Vijeo Historian provides data though open standard interfaces (OLE-DB, XML, Web services), enabling your plant to react and interact with most business systems.

Commonly, expensive proprietary reporting tools are installed in attempts to bridge the divide between senior management and plant operations. Such proprietary solutions are generally much more difficult and costly to integrate with other systems. Upgrades are often not available and complexity is high. Know your information is safe Vijeo Citect’s runtime security system is user-based, meaning that each user of the runtime system (operators, maintenance personnel etc.) has their own username and password. This username can be managed in Vijeo Citect’s native security model or integrated with corporate domain-based security (Windows Integrated Security).

Since tasks differ in nature, Vijeo Citect offers a separate redundancy strategy for each. If you need to upgrade or make configuration changes, you can load a new project onto the standby server. Once loaded, switch from the primary server and run the new project on the standby server. Should it not work as expected, you can always revert back to the primary server without disturbing production.

The combination of industry standard technologies and a single sign-on for valid system users ensures that any sensi-tive data stored within the historian is safe from unauthorised viewing or tampering.

The importance of system security cannot be overstated. Vijeo Citect’s integration with Windows security ensures that the same corporate security standards apply to the control system as to other applications. Further, it creates a single location for the management of all user accounts.

With Vijeo Citect support for Microsoft Windows Vista, you can take advantage of the additional security features built into this operating system, as well. Dual signature functionality provides a second level of security for actions. OFS (OPC Factory Server) transparent communicationTraditional communications between the controllers and the SCADA system were based on large tables of PLC memory being made available for the SCADA system to request values by address. While this structure delivered high performance in communication, it also required an additional level of configuration and resulted in many limitations in PLC design as memory block allocations filled or changed over time.

Bringing the sites togetherVijeo Citect’s ability to unify any number of control systems into a single “clustered” system provides users with the optimum topology. While each local site can view its own control system, global control clients can be implemented to view the entire control system, complete with unified alarm lists and the ability to compare trended data across multiple systems.

Vijeo Citect's support for dynamic clustering means each site can be monitored and controlled from a central control room, if required. For example, if an operator at a particular site only works during regular business hours, the monitoring of that site can be switched to the central control room after hours.

Cicode is easy to use and offers the flexibility, reliability and performance required by plant monitoring systems. Cicode is a programming language written for the control environment. It is also compiled and offers full multi-tasking. These important features provide Vijeo Citect users with unmatched flexibility for extending the functionality of their SCADA/HMI systems without compromising system performance.

CiVBA is a Visual Basic-compatible scripting language and is perfect for integrating Vijeo Citect with ActiveX objects and third party applications. CiVBA utilises the Cicode engine to ensure the running code is multi-threaded.
