Hip Hop (CLAP ARTS) High-energy dance classes provide hours of fun while improving coordination, stamina and overall fitness. Dance steps are introduced in easy to understand language. Instruction is broken down to simplify the learning process, thereby helping to instill confidence in all dancers. Program culminates with an exciting presentation! Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothing, no jeans. Students may dance barefoot or in tennis shoes.
Tap/Ballet (CLAP ARTS) This tap/ballet class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs, and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Wear dance attire and bring tap and ballet shoes. Parents may stay for first 10 min of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration. Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students may dance barefoot or wear ballet shoes. (Students cannot dance in socks or tights alone, must be barefoot or wearing ballet shoes).
Chess Basics (Chess Master Brandon) Feed your mind a with a fun and challenging game. Introduction to chess mats, pieces and how they move, as well as board set up and clean up. Learn rules and basic strate-gies to develop your game. This is a skill that few people have and is sure to test and challenge your mind as you learn the game.
Writer’s Club Knowing how to write is powerful! This will class encourage and develop a student’s ability to express different emotions and get their point across smoothly. Students will learn Valuable, transferrable writing techniques and skills that can be applied throughout their lives. If your child has shown an interest in writing, this class will tap their potential to soar. Who knows your child may be the next top selling writer!

Karate (Kenpo)-Level 1 (DRAGON CLOUD) Learn a beginning form of martial arts that promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence. This class teaches the techniques of kicking, punching, blocking, striking and self-defense. Karate uniforms not required, but are available through the instructor. Classes are taught by highly qualified instructors with 2nd-5th degree Black Belts.
Karate (Kenpo)-Level 2/3 (DRAGON CLOUD) This is a continuation of the Level 1 class. Students will learn an intermediate form of martial arts which promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence. This class continues teaching the techniques of kicking, punching, blocking, striking and self-defense while adding elbow & knee strikes, multiple combinations, intermediate forms and intermediate self-defense techniques. Karate uniforms not required, but are available through the instructor. Students are required to take our Karate Kenpo Level 1 class before taking Level 2/3.
Mini Gym Stars (DANCE ARTS ACADEMY) A great beginner gymnastic class teaching basic gymnastic skills, including movement exploration, balance, and coordina-tion and at the same time, teaching agility and improving mo-tor skills. Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class and are encouraged to attend the last class for a great recital.
SKYHAWKS Basketball This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progressive curriculum, we focus on the whole player - teaching respect, teamwork, and responsibility. Over the course of this six-session program, boys and girls will learn passing, shooting, dribbling, rebounding and defense. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing and rubber soled shoes.

SJ RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class: Requirements for snacks, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not
licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool
center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for monthly

LITTLE LEARNERS @ SEVEN TREES Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. KINDERPREP @ SEVEN TREES This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Don’t put it off any longer! The time has come to jump start your fitness level. This program is located at the fully equipped Seven Trees Community Fitness Center, and individuals ages 18 and up, with a physical disability are welcome. Each participant will receive a customized workout program designed to achieve their personal fitness goals. Participants must be able to function in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs. (Drop in Fees are $6.50 per session.) *Additional medical forms will be needed for participation.*

Camp Dance (DANCE ARTS ACADEMY) A little bit of everything! Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Gymnastics, Cheer, Singing, and Hawaiian are all taught in this great half-day camp. Participants are placed in age-appropriate classes. A snack and juice is provided. Great recital for parents on Friday!
Chess Camp (CHESS MASTER BRANDON) This is a half day camp, where campers will learn how to enhance their chess play and develop new strategies. The camp will be divided into groups of beginner and intermediate, and lessons will be taught according to the needs of the two groups. A chess tournament will be conducted for all the participants where parents are welcome to come and observe. Students should bring a healthy snack with them to camp each day

Arts and Crafts Camp A child’s summer would not be complete without a fun and exciting arts camp! Creative expression is a wonderful way for a camper to enhance their sense of self. Each day campers will study a different medium which includes: pencil, paint, color pencils, chalk and water colors. Campers may get dirty. Please wear your grubbies!
Dance Lifeguard Certification Class
This class includes Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. It will provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
Requirements to receive Certification: Attend all class sessions, successfully perform all required skills, successfully complete three final skill scenarios; and pass the written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent or better on each section. Those successfully competing the session will receive Life-guard Training/First Aid/ CPR/AED valid for 2 years.
Prerequisites: 15 years old by April 24th, tread water for 2 minutes with legs only, swim 500 yards continu-ously, and retrieve an object from seven foot depth.

Cooking Camp Campers create edible delights in a fun environment. Delicious recipes they can make at home (with proper supervision) that are yummy and healthy! Each day will cover a different topic. Who knows, this could be their stepping stone to being the next great chef! Campers may get dirty. Please wear your grubbies!
Basketball Camp– SKYHAWKS This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progressive curriculum, staff focus on the whole player, teaching respect, teamwork, and responsibility. An active week of passing, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding makes this a popular program. All participants receive a ball, t-shirt and a player evaluation. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and gym shoes; bring a lunch, snack, and a water bottle for full day camps and bring two snacks and a water bottle for half day camps.
Seven Trees YOUTH Music & Digital Arts Camp
The Seven Trees Music & Digital Arts Camp provides youth ages 9-13 yrs., a chance to experience several aspects of professional music through hands-on projects. During this week long camp, participants will be exposed to music production, audio engineering, songwriting, and editing using industry leading technology. Camp will include guest speakers and snacks and will be provided.

The Seven Trees Music & Digital Arts Camp provides youth ages 13-24, a chance to experience several aspects of professional music through hands-on projects. During this six week camp, participants will be exposed to music production, audio engineering, songwriting, music business, music video production and editing using industry leading technology. Camp will include, guest speakers, field trips and snacks and lunch will be provided.
Adapted Digital Arts Camp
Join our introductory multimedia camp for teens and young adults with disabilities! You'll work on projects in music production, video editing, graphic design, and photography. Material costs and snacks will be covered. Participants must be able to function in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care needs. (If under 18, personal attendants are required to pass a City of San Jose background check.) CAMP SAN JOSE @ Seven Trees
At Camp San Jose your child will participate in an unforgettable summer day camp experience combining summer camp traditions with enrichment and educational activities. Children will play crazy fun games, sports, create cool arts and crafts projects, sing funny songs and embark on a weekly field trip. Activities incorporate educational features disguised in fun and entertaining activities and projects. Price includes a low leader to child ratio of 1:10, field trips, a Camp San Jose shirt, skill building, new friendships, disguised learning and much more! *Campers need to bring water, lunch and sunscreen each day.* Check with your local community center for a complete list of field trips, lunch programs, scholarships and payment plans. Healthy Challenge Diabetes Camp
Is your child diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes or pre-pre-diabetes? Are they close to being diagnosed? Has your pediatrician encouraged your child to eat healthier, exercise more, or lose weight? If you said YES to any of these questions, then this camp is for you! Come have fun and learn about healthy lifestyle choices. This is a camp with art, sports, activities, healthy snacks, and diabetes education. A diabetes educator and dietician will be at the camp to answer questions and teach healthy living skills. Camp staff will get the kids moving and having fun! Ages 8-13. This camp is a joint collaboration between the City of San Jose and the American Diabetes Association. Children must qualify for this camp. This camp is for children 8-13 who are at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes (family history, sedentary lifestyle, weight management issues, etc.) Your child must qualify for this camp. To Qualify, your child must present at least 2 risk factors for Type 2 diabetes or be diagnosed with pre-diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. Children who register and do not meet these qualifications will only be allowed in the camp if room allows. Priority will be given to children who are diagnosed with pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes.
SUMMER CAMPS
At F.I.T. (Funtastic Incredible Training) Camp, your child will learn healthy habits while gaining strength and self-esteem. Our leaders use evidence based curriculum to help your child develop a positive self-image, get physically fit, build confidence, learn new activities, make life-long friendships and have the time of their lives! Each week will have a different theme, introducing kids to fun, new physical activities and healthy recipes. Camp participants will attend local city attractions on scheduled field trip days.

Ballroom Dance— 9 classes Come join others for some various dancing and fun socializing. Dress is casual and singles are welcomed. Come try out the exciting world of ballroom dancing; including the slow gliding foxtrot to sensuous rumba, to a vivacious cha cha... there is something for everyone. No partners or previous experience needed, just a desire to have some fun. Please wear ballroom dance shoes or rubber soled shoes only. (Drop in $2.50)

Calligraphy (Chinese)- 8 classes Enhance your penmanship with your fellow classmate in the long standing art of calligraphy. You will learn new and amazing methods of this beautiful art that you can show off to family and friends. (Drop in $2.50)
Chinese Brush Painting– 8 classes The single most astonishing fact about Chinese brush painting is that each brush stroke is a defining move that produces a portion of the painting that is neither improved upon or corrected. The artist paints with rapid, mentally constructed strokes, transporting a mind image onto mulberry paper. Chinese brush paining is meant to be more than a representation of an object; it is also a symbolic expression. (Drop in $2.50)

Digital Storytelling– 8 classes Have you always wanted to record a special event in your life but needed some inspiration? Through this class you will have an opportunity to record your moments or history through the use of digital equipment at Seven Trees Community Center. Instructors will teach you how to use your personal photographs, family documents, music and your own recorded voice to create a short digital film about your life’s most memorable moments that your family will cherish forever. Participants need to have basic computer knowledge.
Enhance Fitness– 12 classes Becoming fit just became a whole lot more fun! This is a group fitness class designed specifically for active adults (55+). Enhance Fitness is a group exercise class that improves your balance, flexibility, bone density, endurance, coordination, mental sharpness and decreases your risk of falling through a structured exercise program that is adaptable to all fitness levels from beginning to advanced. (This is an instructor lead class. (Drop in is not available ).
English Writing Class for Beginners— 7 classes This class teaches basic English writing skills. Learn basic grammar, vocabulary and how to correctly write sentences and paragraphs.

Chinese Folk Dance Performance Group– 10 classes It is never too late to learn Chinese Folk Dance. This group is led by an experienced professional volunteer instructor. You will learn various Chinese Folk Dances and have opportunities to perform in community centers. Anyone can join regardless of prior dance experience. iPad & iPhone Class– 6 classes This is a 6 week, one hour and 30 minutes class. This class will cover the use of standard applications with iPad & iPhone. The applications that will be covered are: Calendar, Contacts, Notes, clock, Maps, videos, YouTube, App Stores, Face Time, Camera, Photo Booth, Setting, Newsstand, and more. Messages, Reminders, Game Center and some downloadable applications will be discussed briefly. The purpose of this class is to teach the students the use of most of the included iPad or iPhone applications. Please bring your own fully charged iPad or iPhone to the class.
Karaoke– 10 classes Be a star and sing your heart out! You don't have to sing, participants are welcome to come and listen. Karaoke singers need to provide their own Karaoke CD's. The center provides the sound system and mic. Beginners are welcome! (Drop in $2.50)

Iola Williams Senior Program (IWSP) Membership Become a member of the Iola Williams Senior Program at Seven Trees Community Center!
