BOOK OF THE WEEKSkeleton Creek(Mystery)

Patrick Carman

• Ryan has to keep writing, no matter how much it hurts. He has to explain what happened that night.

• This is my first entry in my journa l— "It’s been two weeks since it happened, but this morning when I heard the 5:30 train, suddenly I slipped back in time, and it wasn’t a train, it was something more evil, more deadly, and it was chasing me.” But then I woke up enough to remember that I was back home, back in Skeleton Creek. As long as I was awake, I decided to do the one thing that had always made me feel better—write about that night and what came after.

• CHECK IT OUT IN THE NORTHRIDGE MEDIA CENTER!!! Read the series…………

Page 40: S:\Faculty\Northridge Informational Channel\September 20   September 24\Welcome To The Northridge Middle

MATH ANSWER

• 9 hours - (15 + 20 + 35)     • 9 hours - 70 minutes    • 7 hours + 120 minutes - 70 minutes = 7

hours and 50 minutes = 7:50 AM

ANALOGY OF THE WEEK• TARANTULA : SPIDER :: _____ : award

• recognize • Emmy • withhold

Page 43: S:\Faculty\Northridge Informational Channel\September 20   September 24\Welcome To The Northridge Middle

ANALOGY OF THE WEEK ANSWER

• EMMY• The best answer is Emmy. The relationship

between the first pair of words, TARANTULA and SPIDER, is that of item to category—one word names something that fits into falls into the category, or group, named by the other word. Therefore, the second pair of words must also have an item-to-category relationship. An Emmy is a type of award.
