Green IT
• Computers generates 2% of CO2 emissions from human activity. As far as all the world aircraft fleet! (Gartner Group).
• 35 to 50% of the electricity consumed by a data center is used to cool the servers (Gartner Group).
• With Virtualization could raise the utilization of servers by 20% on average now about 90% (PC Energy Report source).

• A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of a desktop shows that manufacturing and end of life accounts for the majority of the laptop ecological footprint. (Fujitsu)
• The PC manufacturing process accounts for 70% of the natural resources used in the life cycle of a PC. (Gartner Group)
• Manufacturing a new PC makes a far bigger ecological footprint than manufacturing a new RAM module to upgrade an existing one (Gartner Group)

Duurzaamheid in het HBO
Maken we genoeg meters?
+++++• Het staat duidelijk op de agenda• Er gebeurt veel
Research Centre forInnovations in Health Carewww.kenniscentrumivz.hu.nl
--------• Duurzaamheid wordt nog niet
zo breed geïnterpreteerd– Vooral energy efficiency– Social sustainability?
• Integratie in programma’s en curricula nog beperkt• Nog weinig overall visie zichtbaar
