CONSOL Energy Inc. – Corporate Profile
CONSOL Energy 3 Core Values & 2 Priorities
Core Values Safety Compliance Continuous Improvement
Priorities Production Cost
3.5 Tcfe of proved reserves
2011 production of 153.5 Bcf
628,000 gross Marcellus Shale acres in JV with Noble Energy
200,000 gross Utica Shale acres in Ohio in JV with Hess Corporation
Increasingly targeting liquids-rich strata
4.5 billion tons of proven and probable reserves
2011 production of 63.3 million tons 84% thermal 9% low-vol metallurgical 7% high-vol metallurgical
Largest U.S. producer of coal from underground mines
Sells coal on four continents

New Focus on Water
Extensive Water Treatment
CONSOL treats over 36 billion gallons of mine water annually and manages over 97 billion gallons of waterOperate 103 waste water treatment plants
Currently operate one Reverse Osmosis ZLD plant and commissioning another that will start up in May 2013 to treat mine water
Operate several passive as well as active selenium treatment systems
Evaluating unique systems such as floating wetlands that could be adapted for use at our sites
In 2011, CONSOL had total withdrawals for its mining operations of 25.3 billion gallons of water
We recycled and re-used 26% of that demandFor CONSOL’s gas segment, we had a total demand of 0.2 billion gallons of water
We recycled and re-used 31% of that demand
CONSOL’s Focus on Technology Must be a clear fit within our core operations Generally interested in emerging technologies
that are ready for field demonstration Considering some limited equity investment
Emerging Technology Focus
