    Sharad Joshi is aHindipoet,writer,satiristand a dialogue and scriptwriter in Hindi films and

    television. He was awarded thePadma Shriin 1990.His stories have been converted intoSABTVshowLapataganj.

    He is most known for his dialogues for comedy TV serials of the 80s like,Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi,

    and Vikram Aur Vetal. He has also written dialogues for Hindi film likeUtsav(1984) andDilHai Ki Manta Nahin(1991)

    Sharad Joshi was born on May 21, inUjjain, Madhya Pradesh to Sriniwas and Santi Joshi, asecond child in the family of two sons, and fours daughters, Sharad was interested in writing

    right from his childhood[1]

    .

    He did his B.A. from Holkar College,Indore.

    Sharad Joshi started his career writing for Newspapers and radio in Indore, it was where he metIrfana Siddiqi, whom he was to later marry.

    His short satirical articles were published in prominent Hindi newspapers and magazines like

    Nayi Dunia, Dharmyug, Ravivar, Saptahik Hindustan, Kadambari, Gyanoday etc. His daily

    column Pratidin in Navbharat Times was published for 7 years and played a major role in highcirculation of the newspaper.

    His book, 'Jeep par Sawar Illian', (Leeches riding the Jeep), is a comic satire on government

    officials riding in their official vehicles.

    In all he wrote 18 books, Parikrama, Kisi Bahane, Tilasm, Jeep par Sawar Illian, Raha Kinare

    Baith, Meri Shreshth Rachnaye, Dusri Satah, Yatha Sambhav, Yatra Tatra Sarvatra, Yatha

    Samay, Ham Bhrashtan ke Bhrasht Hamare, Pratidin in three parts.
