PenguinsLocated in the Oceanarium Exhibit.Two different penguin species –

rockhopper and Magellanic.Rockhoppers live in the South

Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans while Magellanics live off the coast of southern South America.

The eyes of rockhopper penguins glow red.

Rockhoppers are the only penguins that enter the water feet first.

Magellanic penguins can swim through the water at 15 miles per hour.

DolphinsLocated in the

Oceanarium Exhibit.Pacific white-sided

dolphins can leap effortlessly to heights of 15 to 20 feet.

Dolphins can swim up to 25 miles per hour.

Dolphins use echolocation to navigate and to find food in difficult waters.

Dolphins lack vocal cords.

Sea LionsLocated in the

Oceanarium Exhibit.A male sea lion is usually

8-foot, 1,000-pounds while a female is usually 6-foot, 250-pounds.

With their large front flippers, they can run faster than humans.

Sea lions are seafood lovers - they eat more than 50 kinds of fish.

OctopusesLocated in the Waters of the

World Exhibit.The Giant Pacific Octopus is

one of the largest octopuses in the world.

Adults are usually 16 feet from tip to tip and weigh between 50-90 pounds.

They have highly developed brains and an array of amazing skills (change colors, sturdy grips, squirt ink).

A female lays 50,000 eggs, watches them for six months, and dies shortly after they hatch.

SharksLocated in the Wild Reef

ExhibitBlacktip reef sharks are

common in the coral reefs and lagoons of the Indo-Pacific.

Blacktips startle easily and tend to stay clear of humans.

Blacktip sharks grow to 6 feet long and weigh about 30 pounds.

They have to swim 24-7 to breathe.
