As developers of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, Scira Offshore Energy
has seen it as part of our role to encourage the involvement of local North Norfolk
companies in both the construction and longer-term operation and maintenance of the
wind farm. This Directory is one step in that direction, its main purposes being:
• to enable local suppliers to make contact with the main project contractors to promote
their products and services
• to provide the main contractors with a quick and easy reference guide for relevant
products and services available in North Norfolk

Statkraft is Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy, with a total installed capacity of
more than 14,800 MW. The company develops and generates hydropower, wind power, gas

exchanges. Statkraft opened its first wind farm in 2002 and now owns and operates three
onshore wind farms in Norway with a total installed capacity of 244 MW. In the UK, Statkraft has
one hydropower plant in operation in Wales, one wind farm under construction in Wales and
planning consent for another in Scotland. The company has around 3000 staff in more than 20

Sheringham Shoal Powering future generations…..
The world needs more energy, and in future ever
more of its energy supply will need to be
obtained from renewable resources such as
hydropower, waves and wind. With around 40%
of the EU’s entire wind resources available in
British waters, it makes sense to exploit the
wind.
The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, being
developed by Scira Offshore Energy, which is jointly
owned by StatoilHydro and Statkraft, will be one of
Britain's largest offshore wind farms.
It will be built around 20 kilometres due north from
the coastal town of Sheringham in North Norfolk and
will comprise 88 wind turbines in an area of 35
square kilometres. When fully operational in late 2011, this wind farm will generate
1.1TWh of green electricity every year, which is roughly equivalent to the annual
consumption of around 220,000 British homes.
