Should Auld Acquaintance be
forgot and never brought -
New York City There was a February 1947 Blizzard
Ed. I was there. Were you? 72 years ago?
I was 15 years old, working for the Journal American after school, LaSalle, on a small truck, riding on the running board, leaning in
the window to count the papers for the next stop, delivering the papers to the news stands outside the stores.
From 110th and Broadway to 125th St. Then to Amsterdam and back to 110th, down to 8th Ave, then up to Columbus to deliver
their papers, then back to Broadway and 110th. Finished.
Easy? No! There were busses and cars stuck in the snow on the whole route but we made it through.
I can’t remember the drivers name? Milty?
Looks like he’s gettin’ a ticket.

Happy Thanksgiving, did you know this fact?In the 1930s, the balloons were inflated in the area of 110th
Street and Amsterdam Avenue near St. John the Divine Cathedral. The
parade proceeded South on Amster-dam Avenue to 106th Street and
turned east. At Columbus Avenue, the balloons had to be lowered to go under the Ninth Avenue El. Past the
El tracks, the parade proceeded through 106th Street to Central Park West and turned south to terminate
at Macy's Department Store. Thank You Dennis Cleary
Tee Benny, I was wondering if it was fells or the Rose bar? I better get back down there before eve-rything changes so much. I won't recognize it
and then there were the ‘55ers and the ‘45ers
Cathy McBride Cotroneo November 13, 2018 My husband and I were watching the movie The Lone Ranger.
It reminded me that Ascension had a show when I was in school. The Hopi Indians came and one of them was the person who played Tonto on the tv show. Does anyone else remember that. I graduated in 1966 so it had to be sometime before that.
Maybe around 1964

I first learned I had a singing voice while attending Ascen-
sion. I had leads in three musicals the school put on. By the
fifth grade I was appearing in Operas at the Metropolitan
Opera House and on radio at NBC .I've continued perform-
ing throughout my lifetime. It's been a joy for me.
Thanks Ascension for getting me started. Class of 1951.

Please remember Ascension Church in your will. Let’s think about where we received the basics
in our Faith and our Education! Suggested wording: Father Duffell
“I give, devise and bequeath to Ascension Church on West 107th Street NY, NY 10025
the sum of $ _______ for general purposes”.
We have over 1000 Alumni on our mailing list. We have 326 Alumni on our email list.
We are at a point now where we really need a couple of younger Alumni to Volunteer to figure out how to keep the Alumni together with the Voice and the Website.
Think about i t ! “Where do we go from here ”???
So that we can continue to, 1. Send out the Alumni Voice.
It is through the Voice that we have kept in touch with 1000 of us. It has served to bring in contributions to the CAP Fund and the Membership Fund.
2. With the Voice we send out Invitations and information about the reunions. 3. We hear from the alumni in the notes that they send with their contributions. 4. We can continue with the Alumni Website. http://www.ascensionalumni.org/index.html
We know that Facebook has served to keep some of us in touch. Especially the younger alumni. It doesn’t serve the purpose of reaching out to the vast majority of us. Those who do not have computers or do not get involved with Facebook.

The biggest lie I tell myself is… "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it" I don't have gray hair; I have "wisdom highlights".
I'm just very wise. If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would've put them on my knees.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet.
Why do I have to 'Press one for English' when you're just going to transfer me to someone I can't
understand anyway? Of course, I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice.
We’re on the web
