Should I Get That Extended Vehicle Warranty?

I woke up the other day and my watch said 8:54 PM, a sure sign of a dead battery.

Later that day I took the watch to the Fast Fix location in the local mall.

The customer service representative told me that a new battery would be about $20 and then he went on to tell me

that there were various other prices that I could pay that would include a warranty.

I told him just to put in the new battery for the $20 fee.

A minute later he came back to the counter and told me that the last time I had a new battery put in the watch,

about three years ago, I had paid for the lifetime warranty and there would be no charge.

I had completely forgotten that I had paid for the lifetime warranty and it turned out to be a good decision.

What About An Extended Vehicle Warranty

But what about other warranties that we are offered, should we purchase them.

Perhaps the biggest warranty decision that most of us will make, is whether or not to get an extended vehicle

warranty.

Should we or shouldn't we get that warranty?

So there you are driving down the road and suddenly you hear a hissing sound or a banging sound and you know that

neither sound means good news.

At that moment you are either happy that your vehicle is under warranty or you regret deciding not to purchase the extended warranty when you bought your car because you

thought it was too much.

As of July 2015, the average age of vehicles on the road sets a record of 11 1/2 years.

Older cars are of course more prone to needing repair.

The good news is that it is never too late to get an extended warranty for your car.

Even if your car has been out of its past warranty for years, all you need to do is to contact a company that offers a

Vehicle Service Contract for your car.

When you bought your car new from a dealer it came with a factory warranty.

If you buy a used car from a dealer it will come with a warranty as well.

These third party vehicle service contracts are used by car owners to pick up where the dealer warranty leaves off.

Repairs Are Getting More Expensive And An Extended Vehicle Warranty Can Help

The average household spends more than $3000 on vehicle maintenance and repair each year.

With newer vehicles being more complex in terms of technology and electronics, those costs are going to

continue to rise.

The solution is to protect yourself with an extended vehicle warranty to that you can heave a sigh of relief the next time

you are driving and hear that hissing or banging sound.
