Shout Outs Grade 6 - McKenzie Squires- Wow, McKenzie! You are a person who serves both our school and community. McKenzie is a hard-working, committed, thoughtful person who serves others. Presently, McKenzie is involved in SRC, helping out at several events and school fundraisers. She is also part of our Middle Years’ Drama Club. McKenzie is always willing to listen, learn, and help others. In our community, McKenzie is part of Girl Guides, and presently, she is independently raising money for Telemiracle (including planning and delivering a Popcorn Sale at our school, among other things). She will be presenting live and on stage! Congratulations, McKenzie. Thank you for all that you do. Grade 7 - Grade 7 Shout Out goes to Keeley Becker. She is a busy girl involved in TMSS sports including volleyball, basketball, badminton and track and field. Outside of school, she is involved in dance and softball, all while maintaining an FM grade level. She is responsible, making arrangements to collect the work that she misses while away. She presents a cheerful demeanor and is helpful and respectful to staff and other students alike. Grade 8 - This month’s grade 8 student of the month is Ashlyn Simoneau. Ashlyn is a positive role model for all her classmates. She works hard in class, is respectful to all staff members and students, and is always willing to volunteer with any task. Keep up the great work Ashlyn! Grade 9 - February’s Grade 9 Student of the Month is Makenna Furber. Makenna consistently achieves excellent marks in all of her classes. She has high expectations in each and every activity in which she participates. Makenna is passionate about dance and not only strives for excellence herself, but also for her students as she makes a strong commitment as a dance teacher. Congratulations Makenna! Grade 9 - Grade 9 Student Dani Mahussier can be heard singing “O Canada’ whenever the school needs a great singer. Dani played volleyball on the TMSS Junior Girl’s Team this past fall and she is presently a very strong player on the TMSS Junior Girls B Basketball Team. She usually collects many points each game and she is also a great leader for her team. Dani is a very strong student academically and works hard at her studies. Way to go Dani!!!!!
Grade 10 - Veronica Nakonieczny is this month’s grade 10 student who deserves a Shout-Out. She started at TMSS this fall and has already started to contribute to being an asset in our community. She volunteers with the CHUMS program and she played volleyball and curls with the school’s senior teams. We are certainly happy to have her positive presence in our school. Grade 11 - Damon Horn, Matthew Merriman, Kelly Holmstrom are all grade 11 students who have put them self in good position to represent TMSS at SHSAA curling Championships. Congrats on your victories and good luck with upcoming Regionals and Provincials. Grade 12 - Hayley Svenson is the student of the month because she exemplifies what it means to be a role model. She is hard working, always strives to improve and never hesitates to help out a classmate. Hayley always brings a smile and a positive attitude to every class. She also shows her hard work and dedication in her curling and skating where she is a patient and likable coach that her skaters love to see every week. Hayley exemplifies hard work and positivity, and that is why she deserve this month's title of student of the month.

T.M.S.S. March Newsletter 2017
Principal’s Message
At the start of the 2016-17 school year, TMSS
with the support of our School Community
Council, opted to go with a paperless report
card using the Students Achieve Student and
Parent portals. As communicated in mid-
September, the rational for such a change was
based on providing more assessment
information to parents, increasing parental
engagement in the achievement progress of
their children, and to be environmentally
friendly.
Though we did not receive any pressing
concerns regarding our paperless report card
in term 1, we have received a few following
term 2. Specifically, some of the issues
brought forward revolved around difficulty
accessing comments, having to click on the
appropriate semester and term, and overall
difficulty navigating through the site. In
response, please be advised that our School
Community Council will be revisiting whether
we want to continue with the paperless
approach, return to traditional paper copies,
or consider an e-mail option that was made
available to NESD schools in November, 2017
after we had already committed to the
paperless route using Students Achieve.
Finally, to those who reached out to our
school with their feedback, thank-you for your
candor and understanding approach.
