Showbie: Annotation Tools

Dear parent/carer, I hope that our students are managing to access some work through the online platform, Showbie. You may have seen some of the options for editing and annotating documents as work has been completed. There have been some questions regarding which devices and platforms support each of these tools. I hope that this document clarifies some of those questions.

• The easiest method to use these tools is on an iPad using the app.

• It is also very easy to use them on any other tablet using the web browser and logging in to the website

• To use them on a computer/laptop you will also need to login via a web

browser

• The iPhone app does not support the tools. To use them on an iPhone login through the web browser (safari)

On the following pages there are examples of each tool on a real piece of work and advice on where each might be most appropriate. Any technical questions regarding Showbie (not logins) please contact myself or Mr Keegan:

The tools available to students are as follows: Pen tool Useful for: Answering questions on a tablet/phone. Drawing and sketching Highlighter tool Useful for: Identifying key vocab in questions. RAG rating knowledge and recall of topics

Text tool Useful for: Typing answers on exam papers Extended writing Answering on a PC/Laptop

Pinned comments Useful for: Asking your teacher a specific question Highlighting sections where you were unsure

Pinned voice notes Useful for: Communicating with your teacher Showing progress in speaking tasks Completing your work verbally if appropriate

Login advice: All student logins have been tested and are working. If you find an issue make sure that students are entering their username twice, for the user and password. They must not use their normal Brooksbank computer password. For example: A student with the initials EC would enter the following. Login: EC56709 Password: EC56709 (Caps should always be used.)
