At UNCC, our CSI chapter was founded by a group of students under the direction of one of our faculty members, Dr. Phyllis Post. The chapter was named Mu Ta Beta in
honor of Mary Thomas Burke, the founder of our counseling program. Mary Thomas truly exemplified the values promoted by Chi Sigma Iota. Since the chapter was
founded, students at UNCC have continued Mary Thomas’ legacy by actively leading this chapter to promote excellence and professional identity.
