WHY DOES REHAU OPT FOR RAU-SIK?Material advantages

RAU-SIK is the REHAU silicone polymer material with excellent physical proper-ties, hard to beat by other polymer material especially in extreme conditions.

RAU-SIK’s advantages are:

- resistant to permanent temperatures in dry heat of +200 °C (special formulations up to +300 °C/short periods of time up to +315 °C)

- flexible at cold temperatures –60 °C (special formulations up to –90 °C)

- permanently elastic across the entire temperature range

- excellent shape retention- ageing, weathering, ozone and UV-resistant- odourless and tasteless- water-repellent (hydrophobic)- permanently elastic at high and low temperatures- electrically insulating and sterilisable- resistant to many chemicals- no additional plasticisers in the formulation

composition therefore no disruptive plasticiser migration

- transparent settings are possible without problems

- suitable for contact with food - Resistant to water vapour up to approx. 2 bar

REHAU silicone hoses and seals are used in the automotive industry due to their positive physical and toxicological properties.

Air conditioning unitsThe REHAU silicone scuff protection hoses ensure perfect functionality in passenger car air-conditi-on-ing units with their positive insulating properties at high, as well as low, temperatures.

Passenger car/commercial vehicle on-board supply networkThey insulate, coat and protect wiring harnesses in passenger cars and commercial vehicles in particular against thermal loads – RAUSIL insulating hoses. This is the case for example when bundling and identifying cable insulations or ignition circuits and elements. Special formulations provide the silicone insulating hoses with the necessary ingredient for this.

Sun roofs and panoramic roofsSilicone profiles are “all-rounders”. Thanks to their excellent shape retention, SIK seals and frames are the perfect solution in this application area. In addition to the conventional groove installation, durable adhesive tape connections are also available to REHAU, which allow for low system construction heights.However, you can also encounter our premium products in vehicles of well-known manufacturers: for example as rain water drain hoses, as functional parts in centre arm rests, headlamps, rear lights, shutter systems, in valves or gear oil coolers and in sun roofs.

High requirements require special materials! REHAU has been supplying the aviation and aerospace industry with silicone seals and hoses for decades and meets their stringent safety requirements as well as directives in terms of fire behaviour and toxicity.

Every airline passenger encounters REHAU in the interior of the cabin, the so-called interior area:whether it is as a gap hider, fastening aid, seals for recessed handles or overhead compartments: silicone seals always ensure the function and safety.

The portfolio also includes fabricated partsin addition to the conventional coiled goods:- fixed lengths- bonded parts- punched parts- parts with adhesive tape- jet-cut parts

Even during the production of light-weight components, silicone is indispensable:The reinforced RAUSIL FG hose is used to inject resin during the so-called resin transfer moulding process,which produces structure components with a high strength and at the same time, low weight.

Modern means of traffic are becoming increasingly important with an increasing concentration of traffic and growing environmental awareness and the slogan “Rails instead of high traffic volumes” can often be heard. In particular functio-nality, safety and energy efficiency are of vital importance in this.

As a silicone processor with long-standing processing and formulation know-how, REHAU supports this with tailor-made silicone solutions, which particularly meet the high requirements on the fire behaviour when transporting passengers.Our silicone solutions can therefore be found as sealing frames, panels for air-conditioning units or in ventilation systems.

Technology is in the detail! This fact applies in particular to the complex appli-cations of silicone components in the field of the air conditioning, ventilation and industrial technology.

Laboratory technologyThe highest quality standards apply to chemical, medical and pharmaceutical laboratories. RAULAB (FG), RAUSILAM and the foamed hose variants are matched exactly to those application purposes.They ensure clear trial results there thanks to their transparency. In addition to this, RAU-SIK profiles ensure perfect sealing of laboratory cabinets and measurement equipment.

Sealing technologyIncreasingly high-quality sealing systems are required in particular during extreme situations (thermal loading, vibrations) in the machine and equipment construction industry.Silicone is also REHAU’s answer to this. Whether it is for hot air/combination steamers in large kitchens, ovens or climate chambers, annealing and heating cabinets.

Heating technologyREHAU stocks a large number of flue gas seals. The TÜV certified flue gas seals comply with internat-ional standards such as DIN EN 14241-1 T200 E. This also includes a suitable variant for individual installation situations.

Utmost cleanliness is required whenever materials come into contact with food. Our tested systems excel thanks to their standard-compliant quality standards and excellent attributes – from being non-toxic to conforming to food grade.

Milk hosesRAUSIL FG and RAULAB FG are the names of our experts for use in the milking technology. They are the perfect hoses for processing milk hygienically and are also suitable for use in the food industry. The requirements of recommendation XV (silicone) of the BfR and FDA §177.2600 as well as Directive (EU) 1935/2004 are fully met by the hoses.

Grafting clipsREHAU grafting clips made of a special silicone formulation serve the purpose of a connecting element between the base and the type of fruit when head grafting fruit vegetables and at the same time they ensure the required stability of the connection. Due to the elastic behaviour of the special silicone formulation the stability of the handle adapts to the stalk resistance. This prevents the stalk from being crushed. Non-toxicity is only one advantage in favour of using plant clips made of the special REHAU silicone formulation.

Shower/bathtub profilesREHAU has managed to join a silicone profile with an acrylate foam adhesive tape to create a durable, long-lasting adhesive bond compared to system commonly available on the market.The silicone profile serves the purpose of a sealing element between (glass) tub door and bathtub.

Drinking water hosesOur special drinking water hoses RAUAQUA SIK made of a special silicone formulation excel thanks to the following properties:- meeting the requirements of DVGW, work sheet

W 270 as well as KTW, category A,- cold water (+23 °C) and warm water (+60 °C)- temperature range: –60 °C to +180 °C - permanently flexible- UV-resistant and age resistant

These attributes of the REHAU silicone seals with long-lasting adhesive tape are unsurpassed:

- temperature-resistant

- durable, leak-tight and long-lasting adhesive bond between silicone profile and adhesive tape, even in tight installation radii

- simple and careful installation using an adhesive tape based on acrylate foam

Whether it is coffee machines at home, drinking water dispensers or commer-cial espresso machines – our tasteless and odourless silicone grades, or also antimicrobial formulations if required, excel in all systems.

Hoses for hot/cold drink vending machines

Fully automatic “high-tech” coffee and espresso machines are increasingly dominating the market.

Whereas the water percolates through the ground coffee without pressure when preparing coffee conventionally, the hot water is pressed through very finely ground powder at a pressure of 9 to 16 bar for an espresso.

The requirements on hose materials for supplying the water are high. Not only do they need to be heat and pressure resistant but also extremely flexible and therefore easy to assemble.

The hybrid-reinforced silicone hose or REHAU’s RAUSILAM combines all these attributes.

Internationally renowned groups in the sector of fully automatic coffee machines use the REHAU hoses in their machines.
