WB – 20.04.20 English Activities – Instructions for parents. Monday: Reading Comprehension This is just one way of supporting your child with reading. Please spend some time talking about the text and what it means and check that your child understands any unfamiliar words. Rivers This comprehension activity is based on our current topic. There are three levels of challenge choose the most appropriate one for your child to complete. 1* – Developing (easy) 2* – Expected (middle) 3* – Greater Depth (hard) If you don’t have a printer, then read the text on the screen and the children can answer them on a piece of paper. Be aware that the answers are on the same documents! Tuesday – Spring Activity Booklet Choose an activity from the Spring Activity Booklet. This contains lots of different English based activities. Monday: Reading ComprehensionThis is just one way of supporting your child with reading. *Use prepositions to describe where and when things are happen.* Use sub-ordinating conjunctions (eg despite, while, when, even though)* Use fantastic description: adverbs, adjectives and powerful verbs.

* Explain in detail your feelings about being at home with your family and not being able to see friends or go out

Friday: EditReread your writing from yesterday. Take some time to look at your spellings and punctuation. Have you written in your neatest handwriting?Choose 2 or 3 sentences to improve, could you choose a better word or add some description? If your really proud of your writing you could write it up in your best handwriting using a pen and decorate your page. We’d love to collect some of your writing and create a book about our experiences during this strange time in our lives.
