Awasteauditisdesignedtoquantifytheamountsandtypesofwastegeneratedatschool.Thisinformationcanthenbeusedasevidencetosupportaplantosupportaschooltoimprovewastemanagement.ThisisexactlywhatstudentsatBombalaHShavesetaboutachievingwithsupportfromaSERRGmini-grantonTuesday17thofMarch.Year10studentsbusiedthem-selvessortingadaysworthoftheschoolsgeneralrubbishintooneofelevencategoriesandcarefullyweighedeachmaterial(resultsshown)toreveal...keepreadinghere.

Changeology continues -TeachersusingthestaffroomatBateman’sBayHighSchoolarenowseparatingtheirfoodwasteintosmallbenchtopcompostbins.Thebinsarethensentdowntothewormfarm.Bateman’sBayHighSchoolarenowgettingreadyforstagetwoofthechangeol-ogyproject-asecondwormfarm.ListenheretoDougReckord(BEEC)talkingaboutthehowtheprogambroughtpeopletogethertogetrealchangehappeninginwastereduction.

Meetings at Bournda -AvisitfromTobyBrowne,WasteServicesManageratBegaValleyShireCouncil,resultedindiscussionongeographystudentsfromBegaHighSchoolbeingabletogoonanexcursiontoawastefacilityintheBegaValley.Thiswillbesuretogetthekidsthinkingaboutissuesassociatedwiththewastestream-suchasmanagementandwaystoreducewastebeinggenerated.
