This is the best site to take anything as loads to Transfer Stations incur double handling costs. It also has a ReUse Shop where you can buy inexpensive items to give them a second life. KSC does not test any mechanical, electrical items or structural integrity nor provide any warranty, guarantees or refunds so choose and use wisely. WMC is also home to our only local licenced landfill site. Please separate your wastes before you come to save money and our precious landfill space going to waste! It is important not to place items in a bin that can hurt people or equipment that need to be disposed of in special ways. It is an offence to put the items below into any kerbside bin. RED WASTE BIN- Weekly collectionWith increasing financial and environmental pressure to reduce waste going into landfill,red Waste Bin sizes have been reduced. Your general waste bin is collected weekly.

In your bin place: Domestic waste only! Includes plastic bags, and non recyclable plastics- cling wrap, Pyrex, ceramics or pottery or broken toys. Tie up bags of loose or dusty wastes to avoid spillage and flyaway littering when bins are emptied No dangerous toxics that can poison our air, soil, water (paint, chemicals, liquids or motor oils.)

PUT THE RIGHT WASTE IN THE RIGHT PLACEWarnings will be given before a service to an

address is cancelled, and bin/s are repossessed.All bins remain the property of Kempsey Shire Council.

Recycling Bins are only for items that can be recycled. Only put household food and drink containers, paper and cardboard. Plastics that can be recycled are marked with a recycle symbol. These include glass bottles/ jars, milk/juice cartons, steel and aluminium cans. No hazardous items (sharps, gas bottles, nappies, wire, nails, foodscraps) as these are sorted by machinery and by hand and can damage machinery or harm workers. No plastic bags or bin liners! No lids or small items (recyclable or not) No polystyrene or meat trays

Any organic matter can be collected and turned into soil improving compost! Mixture of lawn and grass clippings, prunings and small branches, leaves and weeds. Kitchen foodscraps (can be wrapped in non glossy newspaper or disposed in compostable cornstarch bags available from Kempsey Shire Council) No rocks, soil, metal, wire, nappies, timber, glass, plastic bags, bin-liners, plant pots or building waste. These can damage high speed shredders and harm workers. Any contamination is extra cost for providing this service to the community.

CARE ABOUT COMPOSTING Composting organic material back into our soils adds natural fertiliser, increase water holding capacity & is beneficial to soil fauna to produce more vigorous pastures, plants, vegetables, trees and flowers. Food-scraps you don’t want to put into COMPOST HEAPS, WORMFARMS, CHOOKS or BOKASHI BIN can go into your kerbside green Organics Bin.

Council offers each local address a choice of FREE kitchen HandyBin. SOLID best for reUse at home or CAGE with compostable Bin Liners to tie food-scraps up in before disposal to kerbside Organics Bin.

Plastic bags or any soft plastics can’t go in the yellow Recycling bins at all- even if they contain recyclables. Clean bags can be returned to shops for recycling. Dirty plastic bags go into Red Waste bins.

YOUR RED WASTE BIN A standard red Waste Bin is 140 Litres, you can arrange a larger 240 Litre bin by calling Council.

Missing or damaged bins must be reported to Kempsey Shire Council immediately.

All domestic quantities of paints, car batteries, solvents, recycle bin waste, cardboard, mobile phones and batteries can be taken to the Kempsey Waste Management Centre, free of charge, where the inexpensive ReUse Shop is also located.

All waste dumped into landfill costs our community financially and environmentally. Please reduce, reuse and recycle where possible, this helps keep services affordable for us all.
