Sinking Penang Island.......... Penang Causeway

Recently earth quake activities getting more than usual as you can see from USGS website. Malaysia is actually trapped

between two major earth areas. Peninsular Malaysia is big bigger mass land compared to island's surrounding it. One of

the island is Penang which is exposed to earth vibration during the earth. The land supporting the island is getting

weaker due to heavy development mainly at the coastal areas. Only big mass land can withstand the earth vibration like

the Sumatra or Peninsular. So possibilities are that islands like Penang and Langkawi possible may experience heav

vibration effect and cause damage high rise buildings. Already some of the high rise buildings experiencing some cracks

and worst to get with the earth vibration. This is evidence from the land mass under the Penang Island is smaller

compare to mainland. Escaping from Penang immediately is not possible due to limited roads to the main land.

The only way is to make a land road instead of making bridge linking between the two ferry terminal areas. These area

are having shallowest and shortest path to mainland (Check it out from Google Earth).

So what is the advantage?

1. Easy escape to mainland whenever there a major natural disaster, when bridge not safe to use.

2. Roads are easily expandable compared to bridge.

3. Reduce traffic congestion compared the bridge, imagine hours of stuck at the bridge.

4. Cheaper by the land road possible no toll and with short distance save fuel.

5. Can afford cheaper housing in the main land compared to skyrocketing housing price in Penang Island.

6. Ferry service in running at lost, so dont need any more ferry service.

7. Direct public transportation to Penang Island.

8. Create new tourist attractions, build shops, outlets and hotels along the road.

9. New areas at main land will better develop.

10. Balance of economy between island and mainland, equal opportunity to all races.

11. No more frustration getting stuck in the bridge.

12. Faster to reach mainland compared to Batu Maung, Air Itam or Tanjung Bungah.

13. We can call it as Penang Causeway

Beware those who are having several properties in the island, the owners can be instantly bankrupt whenever any majo

natural disaster or other political disaster. Instead, keep as much as cash possible which be more useful in bad times

Another disaster coming soon is the china/Euro economic slowdown. Penang major businesses like manufacturing wil

be greatly affected, as Penang already having problem with high salary demand. So investors may look for othe

countries for manufacturing. The demand is high because of skyrocketing of housing price. Image a person earning

salary of RM3500 but need to pay for housing as high as RM2000 - RM3000 a month. Why do the investors have to pay

high salary instead they can find other countries which is cheaper than Malaysia. Africa is going to be another majo

manufacturing site next to china, so investors have more choice instead of choosing Malaysia. Tourism alone is not

enough to support Penang and if housing price is still going up, eventually everything will be too expensive in Penang

Island and tourist will find too expensive to come to Penang.

If any government can implement Penang Causeway,

I will vote for that government.
