STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANELS A strong, affordable andenvironmentally responsible solution tochanging construction requirements..Structural Insulated panels (SIPs) havebeen utilised successfully worldwide for more than 40 years. A SIPS building isconstructed by assembling pre-manufactured panels which are heavilyinsulated, removing the need for additional insulation. The panels arevery strong, and can be used for floorsand roofs as well as external andinternal walls, without the need for atraditional timber or other frame.Manufacturing equipment at our factoryhas ensured a consistently high qualityof manufacture, fast response and highvolume production.
Applications SIP systems are used, amongst others,in the construction of houses,apartments, hotels and leisure facilities,schools, commercial and industrialunits. The following finishes are easilyapplied:Walls;
Are fitted with a high quality Proctor
breather membrane vapour barrier andthen clad giving the designer a massiverange of finishes to choose from suchas, polymer and cement renders,natural stone, brick, timber, and metalcladdings.Roofs;
Lightweight and traditional systemssuch as metal or tile can be used, SIPSroof panels lend themselves towardsskillion or mono-pitch roof designs withraked ceilings, the roof panel forms thestructure and the insulation and can beinstalled very quickly to waterproof
you’re the building. Floors:
Quickly installed floors on bearersspaced up to 2.7m can form your pre-insulated floor system.Green issues SIPs Industries sips use OSB3 board
manufactured from sustainable
harvested spruce thinning from
managed plantations. This timber is vac
treated a process that uses no solvents
and is completely formaldehyde free.
The P.V.A. glue used is water based
and solvent free. Expanded polystyrene
is non-toxic and inert. Expanded
polystyrene consists of up to
98% air.
SIP systems comprise of engineered
panels that are used as walls, roofs andfloor on all types of building. They maybe used as insulated lintels with our specific span table to span openingswith support from panels on each side.Panels are generally connected usingan OSB spline or solid timber jointswhere all joints are air-tight.
Composition
Manufactured Panels comprise 2facings of 11 mm thick OSB3 bonded aPVAc D4 adhesive. The facings and theEPS core together act as a composite
structure.
Dimensions and Sizes (mm) Overall standard thicknesses: 95mm,115mm, 145mm, 165mm with corethicknesses 70mm, 90mm, 120mm and140mm.Size: 2440 x 1200 wide
2700 x 1200 wide3000 x 1200 wide3600 x 1200 wide4800 x 1200 wide5400 x 1200 wide6000 x 1200 wide
Individual panels are fabricated to anysize relevant to the design requirementsof the designer, incorporating suitablestructural components as per theengineering design.
Weight: Typicallypanelsweigh16-22kg/m2.
PERFORMANCE
Air-Tight SIPs panels and jointingsystem create an airtight structure thatexceeds the BCA Standards.
Mechanics: SIPs form light, strongstructures that are extremely rigid andstable. Buildings built with SIPs behaveas thin shell structures, dispersing pointloads throughout the entire surfacearea. SIPS Industries panels arecyclone rated.
Fire: SIPs are protected against spreadof flame by use of thermal barriers suchas plasterboard allowing the system tobe used for party walls and also incommercial applications. SIPS areimpregnated with a fire retardant whichensures the EPs will not catch flame.
Heat Thermal: SIPS addresses all 3key factors impacting insulationperformance.a) Thermal resistance. SIPSpanels range from R2.8 to R5. b) Thermal Bridging is eliminatedc) Air Tight. SIPs building
systems provide an air-tight envelope. All 3 elements must work to provideeffective insulation.
Sound Acoustic: SIPS impressiveacoustic properties can be further enhanced by the use of acousticplasterboard linings. SIPS minimumacoustic performance withoutplasterboard is 26db.Durability: Life expectancy of buildingsusing SIPs is the same as for conventionally constructed buildings.Termite: panel facings and all structural
timbers are fully H2 treated to Australianstandard 1604H2 providing assuranceagainst termites, additional precaution istaken for building north of the tropicwhere timber is upgraded to H3 andEPS core is also termite treated. This isavailable south of the tropic uponrequest.
