Target Grades

● Target Grades are calculated based on performance throughout your child’s academic journey.

● These are considered to be the lowest target your child should be working toward.

● We aim for the top - we want to stretch your son or daughter to achieve beyond this target.

Teachers

● Look at the subjects where your child could make more progress or exceed their target grades.

● For each subject, ask your child to identify the subtopics they are finding difficult. Limit this to 5 per subject. ○ Personal Learning Checks (PLCs) will help with

this

● Target these subtopics first by seeking out extra resources to support your learning and revision

2. Learning and not just DOING work

Check that content has actually been learned - this means they are able to recall and explain

1. Your child should be able to summarise what has been learned every day

1. They can give you 5 questions that you or anyone in the family can use to check their learning

1. Doing this every day will encourage your child to strengthen recall pathways in the brain.

break in between.b. And start off by focussing on one weakness a day and

gradually increasing the areas of focus

1. Check your child has completed exam practice regularly. a. Complete Questions [Black Pen]b. Mark them [Red Pen]c. Rewrite them [Green Pen]d. Explain the answers verbally [No pen!!!]

What did you revise

today?

Tell me more about that?

What are the links to

other topics?

What are you likely to be

asked in an exam on this?

Exam Procedures

Students must arrive at school at least

15 mins before the start of an exam

We want a calm, purposed, focus start

to exams….not a panic!!

Please call the school if there is a chance your child will be late.

Absence means ZERO marks for the paper missed - this means your child is very unlikely to pass the examination.

We provide pre-exam breakfast in the canteen from 8am on the morning of every EXAM.

Please make sure your child has a bottle of water and all the equipment they need for

their exam.
