PART I (01:11 – 11:34)
• Shama’il the unique characteristics, specialties given to the Prophet (sws)
• Even before studying the Seerah, we’ll cover the shama’il
• Whenever Allah(swt) is mentioned, the Prophet(sws) is mentioned right after that usually
• The Prophet is a mercy to the entire world
• The Prophet is everything associated with Rahma (mercy)
• Some names given to the Prophet (sws) by Allah(swt) –Muhammed – Ahmed– Al-Mahi– Al-Hasher – Al-Akib –Nabi-ur-Rahma –Nabi-ur-Tawbah –Mukkaffah–Nabi-ul-Malahim
• The Quran uses a lot of adjectives, but only two names mentioned specifically: Muhammed (mentioned 4x) and Ahmed(mentioned 2-3x by Isa(a))
• Both words comes from hamida (which means to praise)
• Hamd is the first word in the Quran • Hamd is praise, different from gratitude
or thankfulness• Hamd is given because of the inherent
characteristics of the object or person being praised
• Hamd is given to those worthy of being given praise
• Allah has praised the Prophet, as well as the angels, and human beings
• He is praised in the Heavens and the Earth, in this world and the next, in the past, and will continue to be praised in the future
• We praise him in our salah • There is no human being more
praised than the Prophet (sws)

PART II (11:35 – 25:05)
• The ultimate praise he will be given on the DOJ • When all people on the DOJ will realize the
truth, they will go to Adam(a) and ask him to beg Allah on their behalf. Adam will say I’m not worthy, go to Nuh(a).
• Nuh(a) will say he is not worthy for his sins, go to Ibrahim(a).
• Ibrahim(a) will be so worried about his sins, he will say go to Musa(a).
• Musa(a) will be so worried about his sins. Then they will go to Isa(a).
• Finally, all of mankind will go to the Prophet(sws) and ask him to be a intercessor for them.
• Because the Prophet(sws) will be the representative of all people, he will be given praise for it
• Makam al Mahmud a praiseworthy station makam(rank/station), mahmud(that which is praised) on this stage, he will be praised by all of humanity and all angels
• Difference between Muhammed and Ahmed –Muhammed is for the quantity of praise
(all of the time the Prophet will be praised) [continuity]
– Ahmed is for the highest quality of praise (for any human being)
– Both are combined will be given to the Prophet(sws)
• The largest Ummah after our Ummah are the Jews
• The Prophet Musa(a) were the largest Ummah of Muslims after our Ummah
• So Musa(a) was given the name Muhammed, one of quantity, b/c they have quantity
• As for Isa(a), they were given the name Ahmed
• There weren't that many true followers of Isa(a) but they were great in quality, devoted and righteous
• They were given the name Ahmed because they were the people of quality
• Al-Mahi is another name for the Prophet (sws)
• Maha means to wipe out • Through the Prophet, Allah(swt) wiped out
kufr in his area • Al-Hashr mankind will be resurrected
right after the Prophet. The Prophet is the signal of the DOJ
• The coming of the Prophet was the sign that the DOJ is close (compared to all the previous prophets)
• Another interpretation is that he will be the first person to be resurrected
• The Prophet will be signaling the Hashr, by his coming
• Al-Akib there is no Prophet after him. It means the successor/ the one who cuts off/ the one who comes at the end
• Nabi-ur-Rahma Prophet of mercy• Nabi-ur-Tawbah Prophet if believed,
can lead to forgiveness/ source of repentance
• Mukkaffah one who comes at the end and makes the other Prophets complete
