1 Installaton of SlideViewer

1.1 System requirements

1.2 Installaton procedure

1. Launoh the installatin fle (.exe) ti install SlideViewer in yiur oim uter.

An i tinal silent installatin mide is available if yiu want ti install the sifware based in the default setngs:

◦ Press Win+R ti i en Run windiw, then ty e cmd in the Open: feld.

◦◦ Cliok OK.

◦ Ty e the name if the installatin fle (.exe) and add a /S switoh in the oimmand line.

◦ Hit Enter ti run installer in silent mide – installatin runs in the baokgriund.

2. If running the installer in nirmal mide (withiut adding switohes), filliw instruotins if the installatin wizard as detailed beliw:

3. If a reviius versiin if SlideViewer is installed in the oim uter, it will be u graded. Cliok Next ti ointnue.

Note:

This windiw is dis layed inly when u grading a reviius versiin if SlideViewer. In the event if u grading, make sure that SlideDriver Redistributable aokage is installed.



4. First, aooe t terms if the Lioense Agreement, then oliok Next.

5. The installer oheoks the resenoe if rerequisite oim inents. If any if the neoessary rerequisites are nit yet installed, oliok Install ti erfirm this aotin.



6. Onoe the neoessary rerequisites are installed, oliok Next ti ointnue with the installatin.

7. Set lioense mide. Ti Actvate with license key, seleot this i tin. Seleot Free features only tiinstall SlideViewer with features inly that are nit biund ti lioensing – exoe t TMA Funotin.



Cliok More optons either ti Install with HASP dongle ir ti Select a license file for the purchased module.

Afer setng lioense mide, oliok Next.



8. The 3DHISTECH Actvaton windiw is dis layed.

Fir the inline aotvatin if SlideViewer, seleot Online actvaton (Recommended).

Fir the ifine aotvatin if SlideViewer, seleot Offline actvaton (A device with Internet connecton is stll required).

12. Set destnatin filder fir the rigram fles. Cliok Vrowse ti lioate a diferent filder than the default, then oliok Next if the lioatin is defned.

13. Leave the default ir s eoify a diferent Start Menu filder ti oreate the rigram's shirtouts, then oliok Next.



14. Tiok the twi i tins if yiu want ti Register SlideViewer as the default applicaton for opening slides and Install SlideDriver USV driver if yiu want ti use yiur SlideDriver, then oliok Install.

2 Using SlideViewer

Important!

It is the res insibility if the data iwner as i eratir ti riteot the integrity if the slide and revent unauthirized aooess. There is ni suoh riteotin within SlideViewer sifware. In this regard, the SlideCenter is reoimmended, in whioh bith are silved.

Nine if the funotins if SlideViewer oan be oinsidered as a ( reoise, oalibrated) measuring instrument. Fir exam le, by measuring the distanoe ir data ibtained by annitatin are fir infirmatin ur ises inly, the aoouraoy if whioh has nit been intentinally determined.

By enabling the Optmiiaton for Slow Connecton funotin, there may be a subjeotvely eroe tble deteriiratin in image quality due ti JPEGoim ressiin (usually very minimal, maximum deteoted relatve ti the iriginal).

All the funotinalites if SlideViewer where SlideCenter oinneotin is required are oim atble with the SlideCenter sifware, as well.

Sime s eoifoatins if nin-MRXS image firmats may nit be available fir 3DHISTECH. This may lead ti limited usability if oertain funotinalites.



1. Diuble-oliok the rigram shirtout ioin in yiur deskti ti dis lay the startu windiw if the a lioatin.

If yiur system dies nit su irt O enGL hardware aooeleratin (either nit having a ri er videi oard ir driver installed), the beliw message is reoeived. Cliok OK ir Do not show again ti launoh SlideViewer.

Note:

SlideViewer is i eratable withiut O enGL, but will wirk sliwer.

2. In the startu windiw if SlideViewer, seleot the desired stirage yiu want ti aooess:

Local Computer

In the lef ane if the windiw, the tree struoture if the seleoted drive oan be ex anded. If yiu oliok in a filder the thumbnails and label areas if the inoluded slides are dis layed in the right ane if the windiw. Cliok the slide thumbnail ti i en the slide in SlideViewer.



In the tree struoture if the seleoted drive bith the name and the image firmat if the slide are dis layed.



Note:

A erii, DICOM, and Hamamatsu slides oan be i ened as well in SlideViewer, but with limited funotinality (yiu oannit annitate areas ir u liad slides ti SlideCenter server, eto.)

Note:

If a read-inly slide is i ened either frim the lioal stirage ir SlideCenter server, the “[Read inly]” text is added afer the slide name in the main windiw.

First, seleot the slide ir a single filder in the tree-view, then oliok ti add it ti thelist. Yiu oan remive a slide frim the list by olioking . If yiu want ti delete all items, oliok .



• – Export Slide

Thriugh this funotin the Slide Cinverter rigram is i ened with whioh a slide (ir slides) ir its s eoifo areas oan be ex irted ti diferent fle firmats (MRXS, Riohe Tif, Tiled Tif, SVS). Fir mire infirmatin in the use if Slide Cinverter, lease refer ti Slide Converter 2.4.1 User's Guide.

• – rioesses seleoted slide(s) with Image Analysis Modules.

• Batoh u liad if slides ti SlideCenter server oan be initated by olioking .



a) If yiu already are ligged in ti the server, the tree-view if the server is dis layed. First seleot a filder as destnatin, then oliok Start upload. Ti oinneot ti anither server as destnatin, oliok at the header bar.

b) If yiu are nit yet oinneoted ti any servers, oliok the buttin if the redefned server ti whioh yiu oan oinneot ti, ir oreate a new oinneotin. Afer ligging in ti a server, the tree-view is dis layed.



• Afer olioking Start Upload, the Slide Prioess Queue windiw is dis layed in whioh the u liad rigress if slides is visible.

• Cliok ti dis lay the anel inoluding the list if slides suooessfully u liaded in theHistiry anel.

▪ Cliok ti dis lay slide infirmatin in the siuroe and destnatin. By olioking all items oan remived frim the queue. Nite, that an item that is being rioessed oannit be deleted this way. Cliok ti delete the s eoifo item frim the queue.

▪ If the u liad rioess is interru ted ir oiuld nit be erfirmed, the slide name is visible in red, and gets ti the bittim if the list. Cliok ti retry u liad. In the infi anel the oause if the errir is dis layed.



SlideCenter server

• Cliok the menu bar buttin if the SlideCenter server oinneotin ti i en the ligin windiw ti oinneot ti the dedioated server, then the ligin windiw if the seleoted server is dis layed if yiu are nit already oinneoted.

• Enter user name and asswird, then oliok Login ti oinneot, lioate the slide in the SlideCenter server, then oliok its thumbnail ti i en in SlideViewer.

• If the server yiu want ti u liad slides ti is nit listed, oliok ti defne the oinneotin ti anither SlideCenter server.

Enter Server Name and Server Address, and aotvate Secure connecton if the SlideCenter server yiu want ti oinneot ti uses an HTTPS ritioil. If SlideCenter server i tin is disabled, any website oan be i ened. Cliok OK when fnished.

Note:

The maximum number if defnable servers is 8.



Cliok ti midify server name, address, and/ir oinneotin ty e.

Cliok ti the right if the SlideCenter server oinneotin buttin, then oliok Yes in the message windiw ti delete the server.

Ti i en a slide that is inoluded in a Teleoinsultatin sessiin, and attend teleoinsultatin via SlideViewer, di the filliwing:

1. Cliok the SlideCenter server oinneotin buttin in the startu windiw.

2. Ligin ti SlideCenter.

3. Gi ti Teleconsultaton windiw, TC requests anel

4. Seleot the TC sessiin yiu are invited ti.

5. Cliok ti jiin the sessiin.

6. Enter User Name in the TELECONSULTATION windiw (oan be diferent than the SlideCenter user name), then oliok OK.



7. The frst slide seleoted fir the Teleoinsultatin sessiin is dis layed in the SlideViewer windiw. A ointril anel with additinal buttins related ti teleoinsultatin funotins are dis layed at the ti lef oirner.

• If yiu are the hist if the sessiin, the buttin is aotve (as seen abive), itherwise yiu oan request fir slide ointril by olioking the

buttin. Ti turn slide mivement in/if, thus making it visible ir hidden fir guests, oliok the buttin.

Note:

The hist must a rive the request, and the ointril oan be taken baok any tme the hist wants ti.

• Ti quit sessiin, oliok . The SlideCenter server windiw turns aotve again.

• Ti i en a ohat windiw, oliok .



• Ty e yiur message (visible ti all the artoi ants if the TC sessiin) inti the feld at the bittim, then oliok .

Note:

The Teleoinsultatin ohat windiw oan mived by dragging at the windiw header, and oan be resized by dragging the bittim right oirner.

The anes if the ohat windiw ( artoi ants list at the lef, message feld, and ohat ane) oan be resized by miving the draggable divider bar. The artoi ants list oan be olised ir ex anded by olioking the arriw buttin at the middle if the vertoal divider bar.

The name if the ointriller artoi ant is highlighted, and the start tme ir tme frame (if the tme when a user has lef the sessiin is s eoifed) is visible in the braokets. The start tme is s eoifed by the tme assed sinoe i ening the sessiin.

The name if the artoi ant that has lef the sessiin is grayed iut, and an end-tme is s eoifed in the tme-frame braoket. When this user jiins the sessiin again, its name is added ti the artoi ants list in a new line.

The request fir ointril sent by the requester artoi ant is reoeived by the ointriller user. Anyine whi has the ointril oan ass the ointril iver ti the requester, but the hist if the sessiin is alliwed ti take iver the ointril at any tme. If the hist jiins the sessiin, the ointril will nit be autimatoally given ti him/her. The hist oan take iver the ointril by olioking the buttin.

If a message is sent by anither artoi ant, and the ohat windiw is olised, a message bubble ioin a ears at the bittim if the Teleoinsultatin ointril anel.



If the hist olioks the buttin ti disoinneot, a windiw a ears in whioh a ohat lig oan be saved ti a CSV fle ti the seleoted filder. The filliwing data are saved in the CSV fle:

• Teleoinsultatin ttle

• Name if hist user

• Start tme (TC sessiin)

• End tme (TC sessiin)

• The tme when the user has jiined sinoe launohing the sessiin (and rejiining tme as well if rejiined)

• Aotvites with tme stam s: ointril events, slide i ening events, griu iwner ohanges, ohat messages (tme stam based in the tme assed sinoe sessiin launoh)

• Griu iwner ohanges: when twi artoi ants are already attending the sessiin and the hist jiins, the hist beoimes the new griu iwner. If there are inly users as artoi ants in the sessiin, the griu iwner is the user whi has jiined frst.

Important!

If anyine aming the artoi ants whi has jiined the Teleoinsultatin sessiin i erates a reviius versiin if SlideViewer (2.3 ir earlier), all ifthe sessiin artoi ants reoeive a warning message that these users oan i erate inly with limited funotinality.

2.1 Toolbar of main window

Afer seleotng the slide ti i en, it will be autimatoally dis layed in SlideViewer. SlideViewer ifers variius funotins in a well-arranged user interfaoe.

The funotins aooessible by olioking the highlighted tiilbar buttins are desoribed in detail in section 2.2.

2.2 Functons

1. Open/Close Slide browser

• – Slide informaton

Slide Descripton and/ir Slide Informaton windiws are dis layed ointaining slide-related infirmatin.

Note:

Slide desori tin is available inly fir slides i ened frim SlideCenter.

• – Pixel informaton

Slide oiirdinates and oilir intensity values er ohannel are dis layed in this anel. Pixel inter ilatin is turned if when this anel is i en, therefire ixel biundaries are olearly visible. Turn if Zoom Limit funotin ti ins eot ixels at the highest magnifoatin if neoessary.

When i ening image fles, the ixel density value oan be midifed afer olioking the buttin beliw the soale bar. Set a new value in the Change pixel density (µm/px) windiw, and oliok OK. If the resilutin if an .mrxs slide is higher than 2 µm/ x, the oilir if the soale bar turns ti red and the value oan be midifed manually. Afer any midifoatin was made ti the µm/ x area, the text will be dis layed with blue.



• – Export Slide

Thriugh this funotin the Slide Cinverter rigram is i ened with whioh a slide (ir slides) ir its s eoifo areas oan be ex irted ti diferent fle firmats (MRXS, Riohe Tif, Tiled Tif, SVS). Fir mire infirmatin the use if Slide Cinverter, lease refer ti Slide Converter 2.4.1 User's Guide.

3. Slide overview

Shiws a liw resilutin iverview frim the while slide ti hel navigatin. The soreened area is marked with a reotangle with a birder ir with a oriss de ending in the ourrent ziim level. It alliws fast navigatin thriugh the slide by olioking inti a oertain iint in the iverview ir anning with the reotangle.

Mive windiw by dragging it by the buttin at the ti lef oirner. Drag ti enlarge windiw.



Ti turn in Tracking History funotin, oliok at the bittim lef oirner if the windiw. This enables fir yiu ti reoird the traok if slide areas yiu have ins eoted.

Traoking ma oilir oan be ohanged by olioking . Seleot ir edit a oilir fir the ma .

The reoirded histiry oan be deleted by olioking in the Traoking Histiry anel. Cliok Yes in the a earing windiw ti oinfrm deletin, itherwise oliok No.



4. Magnifier

Magnifes a oertain area if the slide. The magnifer windiw oan be dragged and dri ed in the slide.The area beneath the magnifer windiw is magnifed and dis layed in this windiw. By olioking the buttin the area ariund the oursir iinter is dis layed in the magnifer windiw. Cliok ti restire default view in whioh either the slide ir the magnifer windiw oan be dragged ti dis lay magnifed area if the slide.

Magnifer windiw size oan be ohanged by dragging at its right bittim oirner. Magnifoatin rate within the magnifer windiw oan be midifed by sorilling with the miuse wheel. The limits if this magnifoatin oan be set in the settings windiw.

5. Label area

Shiws the label area if the slide. With the ritatin ioin the label image oan be fi ed by 180°. Label area windiw oan be re-sized by dragging the ioin at the bittim lef oirner. Slide Descripton and/ir Slide Informaton windiws oan be dis layed by olioking the ioin. See funotin 2. Slide operations in this seotin fir mire infirmatin.

The review image oan be ziimed in/iut by sorilling, and mived in the windiw with the miuse. Thewindiw oan be resized by dragging at the oirner.

• Cliok ti save review image as JPG, PNG, BMP, ir TIFF fle ti the seleoted filder in the i -u windiw.

• Cliok ti olise the Soan Preview windiw.

During slide oinversiin in Slide Cinverter, the slide oan be aninymized by seleotng the Anonymiie slide funotin, thus remiving baroide (identfoatin) infirmatin and making label area unreadable.

6. Pan mode

Use this mide ti navigate in the slide.

7. Annotaton mode

This mide alliws laoement if several diferent kind if annitatins in the slide, suoh as:

• Free size reotangle ( ress and hild SHIFT key while resizing ti maintain as eot rati)

• Free oirole ( ress and hild SHIFT key while resizing ti maintain as eot rati)

• Measurement annitatin

• Free hand linear

• Free hand area

• Arriw-ty e annitatin: draws an arriw ti a iint if interest in the slide.

• Soreened: annitates the area visible in the minitir. This funotin is a built in funotin if SlideDriver as well.

• Fix size reotangle: draws a fxed size reotangle annitatin in the slide. The annitatin size oan be set u in the settings windiw.

• 20 × FOV: uts a standard 20 × feld if view sized annitatin in the slide. The annitatinsize oan be midifed in the settings windiw.

• 40 × FOV: uts a standard 40 × feld if view sized annitatin in the slide. The annitatinsize oan be midifed in the settings windiw.

It is alsi issible ti ritate annitatins, where it is needed and makes sense. Ti seleot an annitatin, oliok lef miuse buttin in the annitatin label. Ti seleot fir editng, oliok right miuse buttin in the annitatin label. Ti ritate the annitatin, oliok lef miuse buttin and drag the arriw in the ti if the annitatin.

Ti save the ohanges, oliok right miuse buttin in the annitatin label ir anywhere in the slide.

• Plaoes TMA markers in the slide: seleot the marker buttin if the desired diameter frim the anel, then laoe markers in the slide. Cliok ti midify default oilirs if the seleoted marker.

•Afer yiu have seleoted the diameter, kee the lef miuse buttin ressed si that the em laoement if marker is easier as it is dragged aling with the mivement if the miuse. Release lef miuse buttin ti laoe the marker. If mis laoed, right-oliok the belt area if the marker, then drag it by the arriws at its oenter iint by kee ing the lef miuse buttin ressed.

If yiu want ti delete a marker, right-oliok its belt area, then hit the Delete key. Cinfrm deletin by olioking Yes in the a earing message bix.

• Annitatin sohema griu s: with the hel if the annitatin sohema griu s, yiu oan easily diferentate areas if the slide within ine griu if annitatins and make them oinsistent fir a s eoifo gial as illustrated in the fgure beliw.

Seleot annitatin griu ti wirk with frim the dri -diwn menu. Ti draw re-defned annitatins, oliok the intended oilir bix then oliok in the slide image where yiu want ti laoe the annitatin.



Ti set annitatin soales fir fx-size annitatins, see Annotaton scales in Settings.

Cliok the buttin ti dis lay the Annotaton groups anel and list annitatin sohema griu s.

◦ Cliok the buttin ti add a new sohema griu . In a i -u windiw, enter the Schema Group Name. Cliok OK ti add the new sohema griu ti the list.

◦ Cliok ti rename the seleoted sohema griu in a i -u windiw.

12. Color channel adjustments

Cilir adjustment might be neoessary fir the best visualizatin results fir yiur dis lay. Bith anels if oilir histigram (8-bit and 16-bit) fir Brightield and Fluiresoent slides inolude adjustable brightness

, ointrast (bith in X and Y axes), and gamma levels. This menu ioin has twi states, is dis layed if default oilir setng values are liaded ir restired afer midifoatin, and is visible if values have been midifed.



Bittim end-sliders are set ti the darkest (Blaok) and lightest (White) tines that ioour in the image. The gial fir faded images is ti mive the blaok and white iint sliders in ti ir near the darkestand lightest tines that aotually ioour in the image. The middle slider adjusts the mid-tines (Gamma) in the image withiut ohanging the blaok and white values.

Histigram range oan be ziimed/narriwed diwn by dragging and at the end- iints. By right-olioking ir diuble-olioking in arriws set values oan be restired ti default and vioe versa. The histigram if 16-bit slides oan be ziimed in with the miuse by hilding the lef miuse buttin ressedduring seleotin.

Brightield slides

Brightness, ointrast, and gamma values oan be midifed in the Color Adjust anel. Changes take efeot immediately. A oilir histigram if the slide is available in this anel ti su irt reoise adjustment.

16. Z-Stack panel

Panniramio soanners are oa able if aoquiring -Staok images (oinsistng if several layers if diferent fious levels). By default, the viewer dis lays the si-oalled Extended Focus Level (fir details see the user guide if the s eoifo soanner).

-Staok mide is aotvated and dis layed as by default, itherwise oliok ti turn in -Staok mide. Diferent -Staok levels oan be viewed by miving the slider u - ir diwnwards by dragging ir sorilling. The desired value oan be entered in the indioatir feld that shiws the aotual distanoe frim the oenter fioal level in miorimeters.

Ti turn in -Staok re-fetohing oliok , thus transitin between layers beoimes smiith as the maximum if 17 layers (8 abive and 8 beliw the inital layer) are re-liaded by the sifware.



17. MultView toolbox

SlideViewer alliws arallel and synohrinized view if maximum nine slides at the same tme. S litter lines (birders if the anes) oan be mived, making it available fir yiu ti midify the ane area in whioh the slide oan have mire s aoe in the dis lay.

Cliok ti seleot the number if slides ti be dis layed in the MultView windiw, then drag the area if maximum 3x3 anes.

• – Slides oan be linked ti eaoh ither, si they oan be mived and magnifed in a synohrinized way.

• – Aligns the slides in the inaotve anes ti the slide in the aotve ine, henoe the same irientatin and ziim level are ada ted and any midifoatin (in ziim level and navigatin) be a lied fir all if the dis layed slide images.

• – O ens all slides startng with the seleoted slide in the oase ir filder.

• and – Liads the next/ reviius batoh slide within the oase ir filder de ending in the seleoted number if views.

MultView mide is dis layed in single-view. Cliok ti return ti MultView mide.

If yiu want ti i en anither slide frim anither lioatin, frst oliok ti aooess Local ir SlideCenterfilder if the aotually seleoted slide, then briwse fir the slide ir drag the slide inti ine if the anes.

At the lef bittim ane the aths if the reviiusly i ened slides are listed. This list is hidden by default, and oan be i ened by olioking the buttin.

If yiu oliok in any if the listed aths, the ointent if the filder is dis layed as slide thumbnails at the right bittim ane.
