Introduction :

Telugu language is our Mother Tongue. It is so compact and perfect at National

Level. Andhramu telugu and Tenugu are in use as synonyms representing telugu language. We

are proud of our acient Telugu poets “Nannaiah, Tikkana and Erranna” unforgettable and

always reffered even in Modern times as the greatest poets. For they have translated

“Mahabharatha” from Sanskrit language into telugu. Other great works like Bhagavatham,

Ramayanam also been translated from Sanskrit language into Telugu.

Telugu is a ripened language in literature. Setaka Sahityam is a special poetry belongs

to telugu only. In Telugu literature we have Biographies, Histories, Astrology, Astronomy,

Purana’s, Prabhandha Kavya’s, dramas, prose, and poetry. We have linguistics and grammar of

our own. Astavadhanam, Setavadhanam are the methods present in telugu literature only. They

are useful for the students of Modern language in particular and other students in general. It has

been given an official status on recognition in our state of Telangana.

History of the Department :

The Department of Telugu was established in the year 1965-66. Smt. Vasundara ,

a renowned scholar was the first head of the Department. The following in – charges have set

good tradition in Academic and other activities of the college since inception of the

Department.

Students have opted telugu as Modern language since 1982. The Department is striving

hard to provide required knowledge in the language and literature to the students of

B.A/B.Com/B.Sc. The Department is aware of to imbibe the culture and literature among the

students and to inculcate creative thinking and writing. The staff members are initiated to

develop the creative skills like poetry writing, short story writing. Our Department maintains

Departmental Library to cater to the needs of the students. Books have been issued to students

regularly to improve their reading habit. This makes the students enhance their knowledge by

reading additional books apart from their regular prescribed text books.

Vision of the Department:

The Vision of the Department is to empower the women students focusing on value based

education with language skills.

Producing Responsible Citizens.

Improving confidence levels of the students through need based, language skills and

value based education

To promote the research culture in language and literature.

Producing linguistically competent students.

The college primarily focuses on creating opportunities and approaches to the socially

deprived women students.

Our Motto statement is “Enter to Learn – Leave to serve.

To evaluate students performance we are conducting Slip Tests, Unit Tests, Quarterly, Half

We are creating interest by using PPTs, OHPs in a part of our teaching methods , we are

Infrastructure Details :

One Computer System with Internet Facility.

The college is equipped with vast class rooms with proper Ventilation, Purified water, Wash Rooms,

Wending Machines, Waiting Room, First Aid Box, Fans and Lights for benefit of the student

community.

Departmental Library –

We are maintaining departmental Library with all the books as per the prescribed Curriculum.

Along with it the library also maintained with General Books, Reference Books, & Other Telugu

Magazines related to the Telugu Literature,. Daily News paper is also made available. The

maintenance of Catalogue, Issue register is done. (Also Book reader Club is being Organized).

Facilities -

The college is equipped with other facilities like provision of Digital Board with PPTs and other

CD lessons related to language & literature is being imparted through Technical Support.

V. STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION:

Coaching Initiatives

Department is providing Coaching to PG/B.Ed/TPT, Groups & other Competitive Exams . Our

college has MA Telugu Course.

Ward Counseling

For every 30 students a Ward Counselor is allotted. The Respective Ward progress is being,

regularly conveyed to the parents through Parent Teacher Meetings. Hence maintaining Co-ordination

between students, teachers & Parents.

Students Achievements –

Students active participation in various Department activities is the strength of the Department.

All the activities boosts up students sprit with Enthusiasm.

These activities develops the students awareness on various activities. This finally helps the

students for their all Round Development.

In the Year 2012-13, Vijaya Kumari III ML Student got Gold Medal in ML Subject in

Kakatiya University Exams.

M.Saroja III BA ML Student got Merit Scholar Ship.

B.Chandrakala of ML Group received Gold Medal and Rs 3000 cash prize.

In the year 2014-15, A.Sunitha received Gold medal for scoring Highest marks in ML Group .

In the Year 2015-16, B.Sravanthi received Gold medal for scoring Highest marks in ML Group.

Faculty Achievements –

To bring awareness to students apart from the prescribed, curriculum, programs like Orientation,

Refresher Course, Workshops, Seminars, Publications Etc cater to the needs of the students and benefit

Description of the Best Practice

In what way proverb is related to Human Life? That was how Proverb knowing becomes

best practice might be haunting us.

But proverb correlates the situation in an apt way. It conveys the tense and catching

manners.

They haven’t been originated in a day though man is born free. He/She is a social being.

That way proverbs are generated depending on Happiness, Sorrow, Problems in life,

Experience etc. Slowly they spread from one region to another.

1. Proverbs helps students improve their Innovation.

2. It also inculcates Curiosity to know from others.

3. It develops Competitive sprit among students.

4. It also develops Communications skills among students.

5. It brings an awareness on comedy , fun, hidden and Proverbs

6. It sparse the individuals in an indirect way.

Strengths –

Experiences and dedicated faculty

Adaptability and accessibility for faculty

Enhancement of Inter Disciplinary learning of students through the Introduction “Generic

Electives” in semester V & VI CBCS Pattern.

Over all development of students through various curriculam, co-curricular and Extension

activities.

Weaknesses –

Dropouts increase due to the early marriages of Girl students.

Introduction of new academic programming is restricted due to the lack of infrastructure.

Lack of sufficient Research Exposure.

Opportunities –

The Department involves in utilizing Traditional and Modern teaching methods to enable the

students to learn the subject easily.

The Department is planning to enhance the reading habits of the students which will increase

their knowledge and hike explore the immense opportunities available with mastery over

mother tongue Telugu.

Constraints –

Drop outs ratio is visible due to the marriages and Socio – Economic reasons.

Academic activity is dominated by teaching, learning and evaluation efforts have to be made to

give research a relatively better priority.

Future Plans

Proposed to conduct Kavi Sammelanam.

Proposed to conduct Work Shops/ Certificate courses.
