This unit with interlocking is a key-operated, mechanical system. It is based on the premise that a key cannot be in two places at the same time – it can, for example, be inserted in a switch OR used for opening a lock.
Another important safety feature is that the key can only be removed in a safe state with no hazards – a switch is switched off, a lock is closed and locked.
