Hardware and Software Requirements Before beginning the installation, verify that the computers that you will use meet the following requirements. These requirements assume that the SmartPlant software is not installed on the database server. You can install the SmartPlant software on the database server if you want to, but we do not recommend it.

SmartPlant Engineering Manager may be installed on its own workstation or it can run on the same computer with other engineering applications, such as SmartPlant P&ID or SmartPlant Electrical.

Database Server Requirements Minimum System Resources • 1 GHz processor (dual 2.x GHz recommended)

• 512 MB memory (1 GB recommended)

• CD-ROM drive access, either locally or through a network connection

Supported Operating Systems and Required Components • Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003

• Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 (Required by SmartPlant Engineering Manager for SQL Server databases. Included with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, but is also available on the product CD.)

Supported Databases • Oracle version 9.0.1, 9.2, or 10g

• Microsoft SQL Server 2000

SmartPlant Workstation Requirements Minimum System Resources • 300 MHz processor (2.x GHz recommended) • 256 MB memory (512 MB recommended) • 90 to 250 MB free disk space (Depending on components installed.) • CD-ROM drive access, either locally or through a network connection Supported Operating Systems and Required Components • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 • Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 (Required by

SmartPlant Engineering Manager for SQL Server databases. Included with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, but is also available on the product CD. MDAC 2.8.1 is delivered as part of Microsoft XP Service Pack 2.)

• Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 Service Pack 2 (Installed automatically during installation.)

• Windows Scripting, wshom.ocx, version 5.6 (Required by SmartPlant Engineering Manager. Available on the product CD.)

Supported Database Clients • Oracle 9.0.1, 9.2, or 10g Client • SQL Server 2000 Client Software Prerequisites • Plant Design Licensing (PD_LICE) 07.02.02 or later (Required by the

SmartPlant P&ID Modeler environment only. Version 07.03.00.12 is available on the product CD and is required only if you plan to run SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant P&ID on the same workstation.)

• SmartPlant 3D Piping Specification Remote Access Client (Required for using SmartPlant 3D specifications in the SmartPlant P&ID Piping Specification Utility. See the chart below for version compatibility. Both Piping Specification Client versions are available on the SmartPlant P&ID product CD.)
