SCORE(SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement)

• Developed in August 2007 • A need to develop a quantitative assessment tool to enable
SME Corp to evaluate the impact of our programmes to the SMEs’ growth. (RMK-9 financial assistance has benefitted more than 10 000 SMEs and MEs)
Objective• This diagnostic tool is intended to measure companies’
capabilities as a basis to understand their areas of strength and weaknesses, and needs to assist companies to move up to higher level of performance.
Functions• Identify strength and weaknesses of SMEs in order
to recommend measures for improvements.• Facilitate linkages of potential SMEs with large
companies / MNCs.• Link export-ready companies to MATRADE.

SCORE ResultThe capability and performance are measured based on seven parameters that vary across sectors. SCORE results are being graded by the number of stars acquired (max. 5 Stars) and also being portrayed by the radar diagram (examples) such as follows:

Programs enrollment i.e. The Business Accelerator Program (BAP) & The Enrichment & Enhancement Program (E²).

• Telekom Malaysia (TM) is in the process of exercising SCORE for monitoring their vendors performance.

• PEMANDU wants 109 companies under Medical Devices Sector to be SCORE-ed (ETP)
