Fabricolor roof access hatches provide safe and

trouble free access to roof areas. This will be

necessary in order to carry out routine maintenance

via an interior stair or ladder to the exterior roof

surface.

A range of sizes are available to allow access

with plant and machinery that might be required

depending on the nature and content of the roof.

Fabricolor fl oor access hatches provide access

to plant, utilities, machinery or stored items

underground, or between fl oors. Floor access

hatches can be designed for internal and external

applications, taking into account loading and

weathering specifi cations.

Automatic Smoke Vents

All smoke ventilation units are designed and tested to

meet the requirements laid down in current codes of

practice.

Fire tests have been carried out at a leading UK Fire

Research Centre in accordance with BS 7346: Part 1

1990.

Climatic performance testing, in accordance with CP3:

chapter V: Part 2.

The smoke ventilation units meet the snow loading

requirements as laid down in BS 6399: Part 3. 1990.

Rain and wind penetration tests have been carried

out using laboratory facilities which include an outside

weathering rig, vacuum rig and aerodynamic test

chamber designed by Loughborough University

department of technology.

All resting has been carried out in accordance with BS

7346: Part 1 1990.

Automatic smoke vents open to a full 90 degrees to

allow the rapid exit of smoke and fumes. Automatic

smoke vents can be wired into the building’s

management system, or will work independently based

on temperature or air pressure.

Automatic smoke vents reduce the risk of smoke

inhalation, offer protection against extensive content

damage, and provide increased visibility for fi re fi ghters.

Type Roof Ventilator offers excellent performance

characteristics.

The body and fl aps are available in extruded and

precision formed sheet aluminium. The body and fl aps

can also be insulated.

The blades can be fi tted with triple wall polycarbonate

that allows excellent day lighting. Insulation and a

range of manual, electric and pneumatic actuators

are available to suit each installation. Base fl anges are

available to suit curbs, profi led sheets and standing

seam roofs.

For the Casement Ventilator, optional perimeter

fl ashings are available to suit particular applications.

A comprehensive range of fi nishes are available.

Ventilators can be supplied with manual, pneumatic

or electrical operation. The control mechanism is

concealed within the side frame of the unit to improve

its aesthetic appearance.

THE FABRICOLOR RANGE■ LOUVRESFabricolor louvres are manufactured from high quality extruded and profi led aluminium, available in a range of louvre blade profi les and pitches. Louvres can be supplied as factory assembled modules, in kit form for site assembly to give continuous lines, and in cassette format to interlock with composite wall cladding systems.

■ GUTTERS AND RAINWATER GOODSThe roof drainage system is an important aspect of the overall roof design. It is important to calculate the correct capacity of a valley gutter due to it being inside the building line and is effectively part of the roof. Any overfl ow or leaks into the building would be unacceptable.

Fabricolor produce a full range of valley and eaves gutters produced from aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised steel, before and after manufacture and insulated membrane gutters.

■ METAL FACADESRainscreen panels and insulated panels enable the designer to provide a fl at surface to the outer skin of a building. A wide range of materials and fi nishes are available to create crisp lines and an aesthetic appearance. Systems are available to suit new build projects and refurbishments fi xed to existing facades.

Insulated or composite panels designed around a curtain walling system provide infi ll when glazing is not required.

■ ARCHITECTURAL FABRICATIONSArchitectural fabrications include a wide range of architectural products that complete the building envelope.

CASE STUDYAbu Dhabi

After its previous UK supplier ceased trading, the contractor responsible for replacing a large number of access hatches in Abu Dhabi contacted Fabricolor.

Fabricolor was asked if it could comply with a detail specifi cation applying to manufacture, materials and performance.

A delegation of offi cials from the main contractor and water authority, visited Fabricolor and inspected its manufacturing facility and ISO 9001 Quality System.

The project involved the manufacture of special heavy duty access hatches that would withstand vehicle traffi c and an aggressive environment. Different confi gurations with up to eight large lids incorporating chains and safety grids to comply with Health and Safety requirements, some lids were recessed into its surround for a fl ush fi nish.

Specialist 80 micron powder coating with warranty and 316 stainless steel and aluminium fabrication expertise was required.

Fabricolor was awarded a contract to supply £140,000 worth of access hatches manufactured in stainless steel and aluminium to a highly technical and demanding specifi cation.

Export packaging was also a requirement that required purpose made cartons to ensure the order optimised the available space in the sea going container.
