Smokefree Children’s Centres
A whole organisation approachAndrea DickensDeputy Director, Smokefree South West
Lesley ThomasPublic Health Programme Manager (Tobacco Control), Devon County Council
A
Why this project?• The whole organisation approach is shown to
work in schools and organisations, so by inference, should work in CC
• There was a lack of quality brief advice training available for non-clinical staff
• CC work with ‘targeted’ families so reach the target population for smoking cessation and the smokefree homes messages
• Devon’s CC Alliance and Smokefree South West were keen to promote SF via CC
A
Aims
• To establish and maintain a smokefree site
• To ensure all service users know the best way to quit smoking, when they are ready
• To promote smokefree homes.
