Towards NABH standards:  A meeting of the Hospital Infection

ommittee(HICC) was held on 23.6.2015 at hospital lecture hall under the

eadership of Dr. Rakesh Pulichikatt, Assistant Professor in General Medicine.

The Minutes of the meeting were, intensification of training program,

preparing a memorandum of safe I practices & tour plan for assessment of

afe I practices in the hospital. The next meeting is scheduled to be held on

23.7.2015.

Professor Tom Jackson from Loughborough University in

U.K. has done extensive research on the impact of work email on health and

mental wellbeing. He had found a direct link between email use and increased

levels of stress as well as other health conditions such as hypertension,

thyroid disease, heart failure and coronary heart disease. Multi functional

devices like Blackberrys and iphones allow workers to be accessible 24 hours a

day and because of this it is likely that there will be an increase in stress levels.

Another concern is that many employees do not realize that they are stressed

,as in his study, users perceived themselves not to be stressed when the

physiological findings showed their bodies were under increased stress. This

would indicate that employees might find it difficult to self regulate their use

of communication media to ensure they do not become overwhelmed by

stress.

The significance of this is that long-term short sharp

increases such as this can lead to long term chronic health conditions. This

doesn't mean that email is a bad communication tool ,but poor email training

and management is the problem .By reducing the volume of irrelevant and

untargeted email and by reducing the frequency with which an email

application checks for new email ,the cost and this problem of raised stress

levels can be optimized.Source-news of PTI- in The Hindu daily dated 12-05-2015

Work With email can raise stress levels

Three beautiful thoughts

Successful people can't relax on chair.

1. None can destroy iron, but its own rust can!

Likewise, none can destroy a person, but his own mindset can.

2. Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going, because a

straight line even in an E.C.G. means we are not alive.

3. The same Boiling Water that hardens the egg, Will Soften the Potato!

It depends upon Individual's reaction To stressful circumstances

They relax at WORK

They sleep with a DREAM. Awake with COMMITMENT & Work towards

GOALS".

That's the "SPIRIT OF LIFE"
