SPAY AND NEUTER INTERMOUNTAIN PETS AND PET PLACEMENT
Our Mission >>>
Spay and Neuter Intermountain Pets and Pet
Placement (SNIPPP) is a no-kill animal welfare
organization whose mission is to address and
remedy the issues related to companion animal
overpopulation through funding a spay/neuter
program, community education, and the rescue
and placement of at risk animals.
We serve the communities of the Intermountain
Area of California including Northeastern
Shasta County and adjoining areas in Modoc
and Lassen Counties.
We are a California non-profit organization,
staffed exclusively by volunteers and governed
by a Board of Directors. Our meetings are held
every 3rd Monday of the month in Fall River or
Burney. Check our Website or Facebook for
the exact location each month.
We encourage members of the community to
attend and join us in our mission.
For more information about us please visit
us at www.snippp.org or join our Facebook
Group.
Good Mews!
Donations to SNIPPP are tax deductible
Maybe It’s Time to Consider Adoption! Augie was found outside of Burney and unfortunately, his owner was never located. A cattle dog
mix, Augie is intelligent and attentive to his people, is housetrained and a quick learner. Augie
has a congenital hip joint issue that will require lifelong supplements and shouldn't jump in and
out of trucks or high places but other than that he is good to go and is looking for that perfect
someone to become his forever human!
If we have learned anything in the past several
months of COVID-19 and social distancing,
it’s that our pet (or pets) became even more
important to our mental health!
We might not be able to go out
for dinner at our favorite spot, or
get our hair or nails done, but we
can still take our pup for a walk,
or hug our cat when we feel
helpless, scared and alone.
Pets make amazing companions
and it’s been scientifically
proven that having a pet is not only good for
them - it’s good for you! Over the past several
years we have learned that animals have amaz-
ing senses and can be trained to detect subtle
changes in our bodies that allow them to alert
us when our blood sugar is too low, a seizure is
coming on, or when we need their comfort
during a PTSD attack.
Not only do they have some pretty cool super
powers, they are your friend when you need
one the most. The good news is - there is a pet
waiting to give you all the love they have, and
you may not have to look any further
than SNIPPP. In addition to
running a very successful spay/
neuter program, SNIPPP is
always willing to help an ani-
mal in need. We actively
rescue and foster dogs or cats
who have been lost or aban-
doned, or have lost their human
through no fault of their own. SNIPPP also
offers “courtesy listings” to help people find a
home for their pet if they can no longer care
for them.

You never know - true, unconditional love
may be just a click away!
You Won’t Be Sorry!

agreeable friends – they
ask no questions, they
pass no criticisms.”

HAPPY TAILS
One of the most rewarding aspects of animal
rescue is matching a dog or cat with their
perfect person! In that moment, all of the
hard work of our volunteers pays off. We like
to share these success stories - they are our
Happy Tails!
Brandy - This adorable girl came to SNIPPP
as an owner surrender. Although she was
loved by her people, she was a bit of a hand-
ful and more than they could handle. SNIPPP
arranged to have her spayed and she moved in
with her foster mom Angela for some much
needed behavioral training. Thanks to the
work of SNIPPP volunteers, Brandy met her
new furever family and is living a great life in
Oakland!
Smokey - lost his owner suddenly and found
himself all alone. A dedicated lifelong indoor
cat and sometime lap lounger, Smokey was
not too keen on this unexpected change in his
life. Being a bit of a loner, when he moved to
a foster home he spent more time under the
couch than couch surfing! Things were look-
ing a bit glum, when Steve contacted SNIPPP
via Petfinders. Steve explained that his cat
had recently passed away and he was missing
him a lot and that he surmised that Smokey
was probably also missing his former owner
and that they likely needed each other. An
introduction was made and we are happy to
report that Steve was right! Steve and
Smokey are now two bachelors enjoying each
other’s company and hanging out!
Bliss (formerly known as Missy) - Bliss
began life with a bit of a bumpy start. Then
she was adopted and things took a turn for the
better! Soon after the adoption, though, her
owner realized that apartment living with no
yard might not be the perfect situation. She
reached out to SNIPPP for help but agreed to
foster Bliss until new digs could be found.
Things got a little scary again when Bliss
went missing one day in January! She was on
the run for 25 days until a sharp-eyed SNIPPP
volunteer spotted her. Thankfully, SNIPPP
President Larry Burns was able to get her
back into custody! Whew! What an adventure
for a young girl. Bliss met her new furever
folks when Mike and Anne from Dunsmuir
came for a meet and greet and fell in love!
Happy to call Dunsmuir home, Bliss is bliss-
fully happy at last!
These Happy Tails are a big part of SNIPPP’s world. Each donation is used 100% to a make a better life for pets in need or for lost,
abandoned, or surrendered animals in the communities of the Intermountain area.
ANNOUNCING SNIPPP SPAY/NEUTER VOUCHER PROGRAM CHANGES EFFECTIVE 6-1-20
SNIPPP is excited to announce changes to our Spay/Neuter Voucher Program! In order to continue serving the animal welfare
needs of the Intermountain Area, SNIPPP made the following changes to our spay/neuter voucher programs effective 6-1-20.
As always, voucher availability is contingent on funding - please consider donating today!
Dog vouchers are available in the amount of $60 towards a spay and $40 towards a neuter, and Cat vouchers are available in the
amount of $70 towards a spay and $30 towards a neuter. SNIPPP vouchers may be used at any veterinarian who accepts them.
Feral cat vouchers may also be available to cover the entire amount of a spay or neuter, providing the cat arrives in a trap. The
cat will be spayed/neutered, its ear will be tipped (to allow for identification as having been altered) and it will be retuned in the
trap for release. This program is limited to Feral cats only and voucher must be used at one of the three veterinary offices
listed below.
In addition to the vouchers described above, SNIPPP has a number of options available through our local veterinarian partners
listed below to provide more financial coverage for low-income households. For more information regarding available assis-
tance please contact SNIPPP at 530-336-6006.
To obtain a spay or neuter voucher, please contact your veterinarian and make an appointment for your pet, then contact SNIPPP
at 530-336-6006. A SNIPPP representative will contact you within 24 hours, often sooner. SNIPPP will contact the veterinarian
and provide them with coverage specifics. Be sure to leave a phone number where you can be contacted and allow for sufficient
time for SNIPPP to confirm the information and contact the veterinarian. Our local Veterinarian Partners are:
Burney Veterinary Hospital - 530-335-3646 Fall River Veterinary Hospital - 530-336-5528
Modoc Veterinary Center - 530-233-4156 (Alturas) or 530-299-3121 (Adin)
Meet Our Amazing Veterinarians –
We are blessed to have not just one, but three caring, wonderful Veterinarians who help SNIPPP on a daily basis! In the event that you don’t know them, allow us to introduce you!
Ryan DePaul – Modoc Veterinary Center
Raised in Surprise Valley, Dr. DePaul received his DVM degree from Oregon State Univer-sity in 2005. Moving to Alturas, he joined the Modoc Veterinary Center in 2005 and be-came a partner in 2007. He purchased Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic in 2019 expand-ing his practice to the Susanville area. Dr. DePaul specializes in Equine Dentistry and is a Certified Equine and Small Animal Chiropractor. Dr. DePaul loves spending time with his wife Kristen and their five beautiful children, enjoying sports, hunting, fishing, camping and working on his family ranch.
Kerry Healey – Burney Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Kerry Healey has been the owner of Burney Veterinary Hospital since January 2019 after joining the practice in 2013. Dr. Healey, who hails originally from Vermont, graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. She is grateful for the opportunity to live and practice in such a beautiful place and with such a dedicated and hard working team. Dr. Healey lives in Burney, with her husband and three very spoiled cats and her newest arrival rescue dog – Teeka!
Jen Imus – Fall River Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Imus’s love of all things Ag and Animals developed early in Grass Valley, leading her to UC Davis, University of Wyoming and back to UC Davis where she received her DVM degree in 2012. After spending time as an Associate Veterinarian working with Dr. Ryan DePaul at Modoc Veterinary Center, she and her husband Dan decided to settle in the Fall River Valley and ultimately purchased Ken Evan’s practice at Fall River Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Imus and her husband have three fur baby dogs – Tuff, Banner and Lou – That’s one happy family!
SNIPPP is grateful for the dedication and care each of you give to the animals we love!
YOU CAN HELP US
Continue SNIPPP’s Mission
530-336-6006 1. We need drivers...far and wide and locally, to take cats and dogs back and forth to vet appointments,
and also to drive them to their new homes, which (sometimes) means more than one day on the road.
We pick up gas expenses and you do the delivery.
2. Do you like photography? That's one key to our adoption successes...a good photo can make all the
difference.
3. Answering the SNIPPP phone. We receive about 30 phone calls a week which are answered by vol-
unteers. Each volunteer handles a week of calls; it is a marvelous way to learn all about SNIPPP. And
you don’t have to be local to perform this invaluable service.
4. Skilled at social media? We can always use help spreading the SNIPPP word!
5. Enjoy talking with people? Interviewing potential fosters, adopters and volunteers? Again, you don’t
have to be local to help in this area.
6. We need foster homes. Can you provide a safe place for a pet while we find their new furever home?
If we have a kitten, cat, pup or adult dog in need, they may be looking for a couch to surf until that
perfect person comes along. We provide food and vet care, you provide the love!
