Please read all instructions before beginning. Pre-washing NOT recommended.
Yardages and Cutting WOF is 42" width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. LOF is length of fabric, parallel to the selvage edges.
Remove as little fabric as possible when removing selvages and squaring strip ends.
Snowy Christmas panel • Trim 1 panel to 20 1/2" x 20 1/2", keeping the
framing even all around.
Snowy Christmas squares panel • Fussy-cut (4) 7 1/2" squares, keeping the framing
even all around.
1 1/2 yards border stripe • 4 strips 10 1/4" x LOF, beginning 1/4" out from
the gold outline at the bottom of the narrow stripe
and cutting 10 1/4" over from there as shown.
• Layer the 4 strips, matching the print. Cut 4
identical 10 1/4" x 24 1/2" strips.
3/8 yard blue print • 4 strips 1 7/8" x WOF; cut into 8 each 1 7/8" x
10 1/4" and 1 7/8" x 7 1/2" strips.
5/8 yard blue texture
• 3 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; cut into 2 each 2 1/2" x
24 1/2" and 2 1/2" x 20 1/2" strips. Reserve
remainder of 2 strips for outer border.
• 4 strips 2 1/2" x WOF for outer border.
5/8 yard leafy print • 6 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding.
3 5/8 yards of 42" backing fabric OR • 2 strips 63" x WOF OR
OR
1 3/4 yards wide backing fabric • 1 piece 63" x 63"
Batting • 1 piece 63" x 63"
Completing the Quilt Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Press seams as directed. Refer to the exploded quilt diagram on the next
page as needed.
1. Sew 1 7/8" x 7 1/2" blue print strips to the sides of each panel square. Press seams toward the strips. Add
1 7/8" x 10 1/4" strips to the top and bottom to complete (4) 10 1/4" x 10 1/4" panel units. Press seams toward the
strips.
Panel Unit — Make 4
2. Stitch 2 1/2" x 20 1/2" blue texture strips to the sides of the large panel. Press seams toward the strips. Add
2 1/2" x 24 1/2" strips to the top and bottom to complete the 24 1/2" x 24 1/2" panel center. Press seams toward the
strips.
3. Sew a border stripe strip to the sides of the panel center. Press seams toward the strips.
4. Stitch a panel unit to each end of the 2 remaining border stripe strips to make 10 1/4" x 44" top/bottom strips.
Press seams toward the border stripe strips. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the panel center. Press seams
toward the strips.
5. Sew the 2 1/2" x WOF blue texture strips
short ends together and add a 2 1/2" x remaining
WOF blue texture strip to each end. Press seams
to one side. Cut into 2 strips each 44" and 48".
Stitch the 44" strips to the sides of the quilt center
and the 48" strips to the top and bottom to
complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.
6. If using 42" backing fabric, remove the
selvage edges from the backing pieces. Join the
pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam
allowance. Press seam open. Trim to make the
63" x 63" backing piece.
7. Layer the quilt top with the backing and
batting pieces. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and
backing even with the top.
8. Join the leafy print binding strips on the
short ends with straight seams to make a long
strip. Press seams open. Press the strip in half
along the length with wrong sides together.
9. Bind the quilt edges using your favorite
method to complete the quilt.
