Superintendent’s Comments:

Keeping the water out!

Ice guards will be placed on the roof of the elementary building to keep the snow and ice off so

the gutters are not damaged. We just had new gutters put up by Mixer Gutters (labor donated) to

replace gutters that were ineffective and allowed rain/thawed snow and ice to come into the K-2

building. The ice guards will give the gutters a longer life and keep the water out! Also, we will

repair the roof on the 2000 edition to keep the rain water out. Every time we get a hard rain, new

leaks surface. So, it is time to repair the roof for a more permanent solution. Finally, the Ag

Program plans to build an awning over the basement entrance of Pre-K. This too will help keep

the rain water out of our building. Constructing an awning will be a great opportunity for our Ag

students to learn a new skill. Thanks, Ag Program!

Ag Event Coordinator

This is a part-time position being funded by a memorial through the Liberty Education

Foundation. The role of this person is to assist the Ag Teacher on events, coordinate speakers,

and set up internships/ Ag opportunities. The posting is available on our website. The person

applying for the position must be 21 years of age and have a solid Ag background; a license or

degree is not necessary. The time commitment will involve evenings, weekends, and some

overnight events. For someone who would love to be active with FFA, this position might be

calling their name.

School Improvement Goals Annually, the school board approves the elementary and junior high/ high school improvement

goals. This year each building’s instructional leadership team identified some issues to address.

This is a work in progress, and may be adjusted throughout the school year. Every entity should

always assess where they are at, where they want to be, and develop and implement a plan to

reach their goals. Improvement should always be a goal in schools!

Transportation for the Ag Program

Liberty FFA Alumni is giving school the money to purchase an activity van to be used to

transport Ag students to their events. The Liberty FFA Alumni will also pay for the annual

insurance cost and maintain and repair the vehicle when needed, unless the repairs are out of the

scope for their skills. This will help provide the availability of having sufficient transportation

for all our programs. We never seem to have enough vehicles for the extra- curricular groups to

take on their activities. The Liberty FFA goes to many places throughout the school year and has

several participants. So, this is a win-win for both the Ag program and the District. A big thank

you to the Liberty FFA Alumni!

Vehicle Use

Since we have a lot of people who take school vehicles to places, we needed to develop a policy

on vehicle use. One of the items that will be sought is a driving abstract to validate the person

has a current license and a satisfactory driving record. This will help to ensure the safety of our

students and staff. This same approach occurs with bus drivers, as part of their yearly

requirements. This was the first reading of this policy. Two readings are always required.

As the weather gets cooler, bundle up! Fall is here.
