After a challenging year of unexpected and compounding crises, we invite our colleagues from the international community and women’s organizations around the world to celebrate the first birthday of She Builds Peace with us. Are you wondering: What is She Builds Peace? Who are women peacebuilders? Why does their work matter? What can I do to support women peacebuilders? Or are you a woman peacebuilder wondering how to get involved? This event will address these questions and explain how you can join the campaign. The event will highlight the achievements to date and opportunities for progress in 2021 using a dynamic and interactive format that will include participant activities, audiovisual presentations, and micro-workshops. Women peacebuilders will share what the campaign means to them and the impact it has had. Supporters will share how they are using the campaign to take action to stand with women peacebuilders. ensuring their safety and protection; fulfilling obligations to make peace and security inclusive and gender-responsive; recognizing and appreciating their unique approaches; and, resourcing their work in a sustainable and equitable manner.

These four interrelated pillars are grounded in three Frameworks for Action, comprised ofanalysis and operational guidance on Recognition and Participation, Protection, and Funding ofwomen peacebuilders. The action items defined in the operational guidance are the product ofdeep and wide consultations with civil society, governmental and multilateral stakeholders, andwere co-developed with local women peacebuilders. Each action item is substantive and, ifacted upon, will move the needle significantly.
