are VERY biased and have a specific agenda, most of the time that

agenda is not providing news to you.

Best practices for Social Media • Language and controversial topics

• If you’re afraid to say it in front of your grandma then don’t post it online

• Don’t be political • As 4-H Volunteers you have a unique opportunity to educate and

mentor young people, politics does not need to be part of the education.

• Watch what you say and how you say it • Like the old saying goes, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t

say anything at all.

• If you have a social media account and there are 4-H’ers that

are following you or are friends with you, you have to give up a

certain amount of what you post and like • Your position as a 4-H Leader is treated the same as an educator
