The lobby will have water bottles for sale. I can bring my own snacksfrom home if I want.

Ushers are people who can help me. They willbe wearing all black. I will show the usher myticket so it can be scanned. The usher will tellme which door to go in.

I can take a playbill if I want to learn more about theshow, it’s characters and creators.

I can walk down the hall to use thebathroom.

I can take a break in a separate roomduring the show. I can still watch theshow - it will be projected on the wall, soI can keep listening to the story.

There is a break in the middle of the show so actors can get ready or for the crew tochange what is onstage. I can get up and move around, go to the bathroom. After 15minutes, it will be time to get ready to watch the rest of the show.

I will leave my seat and walk out to the lobby.

I can wave goodbye and walk back to the car or bus stop.

Tips for the Matilda ShowTo find more tools for planning a great performance, visit our website atwww.duluthplayhouse.org/about/accessibility or contact our Inclusion Coordinator, Samantha [email protected].

It’s Okay to be you!1. Okay to talk quietly to reassure your care partner or child.2. Okay to vocalize during the show.3. Okay to use a tablet or phone for a break, just no recording the show - and please use

headphones.4. Okay to use the aisle or floor space to the side of the stage to move around.5. Okay to leave and break any time throughout the show.6. Okay to bring your own snacks if needed. Please mask up when not eating.7. Okay to just enjoy the performance, no need to ‘study’ or follow the story.8. Okay to use your own sunglasses, hat, headphone, and other comfort objects.9. Okay to ask for support - ushers are on both sides of the theater if you need anything.

Some people will be in costume.A costume lets a person look like another person or animal to help tell the story. Here is Evan. Evanplays a character called Miss Trunchbull. Evan is really nice, but to be his character Miss Trunchbull,he pretends to be mean and mad at the students in the show’s story.

There is a scene that looks like a child is thrown in the air! It’s just pretend.Miss Trunchbull will pretend to throw a child, but really will be throwing a doll. Everyone is safe.

There is a scene where a kid's ears are stretched. It’s just pretend. It mightmake you laugh!
