Concept 1 : StereotypingA general belief about a group of people. Differs from prejudice in that it can have positive or negative connotations. Runs the risk of

becoming prejudicial and leading to discrimination.

In the video, Johnnie was seen stereotyping when he judged the 2 groups of people based on what he saw without proper

information.

Concept 2 : Bystander EffectThe bystander effect, or bystander apathy, is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. The

probability of help is inversely related to the number of bystanders.

In the video, Drake’s group did not help Johnnie when he had stomachache as they assumed somebody else would take the

initiative to assist Johnnie and later left him alone.

Concept 3 : Egoistic Models of Helping

Egoism encourages helping because of a concern about the costs to one’s self if help is not provided. Egoism seeks to reduce

personal distress. Egoism highlights the potential rewards for helping others. In other words, a selfish help.

In the video, Syakira was seen helping Johnnie when he was unwell. But she was doing it only for the sake to get closer to him

so he would join her group and help her achieve a good grade.

Concept 4 : Indirect Verbal Aggression

The aggression is not clearly derived from aggressor towards the victim, which the victim is unclear about it and was done verbally.

For example, spreading rumors, gossiping and etc.

In the video, Drake’s group were gossiping about how Syakira was being rude and unethical for taking Johnnie into her group only to

help her achieve her targets.

Concept 5 : Counterfactual Thinking (Downward Counterfactual)

Imagining different outcomes for an event that has already occurred. Is usually associated with bad or negative events. Can

be used to improve or worsen your mood.

In the video, Drake’s group realized that Syakira and Johnnie both got A and they did not. To improve their own mood, they stated

that if Johnnie were to join them, he would be farting all the time and not doing work.
