Social Science 2018 - 2019

For the future you want

SOCIAL SCIENCE

From psychology, sociology and history to politics, criminology and philosophy, we have a huge selection of social science courses at Edinburgh College. You can choose from introductory courses, Higher, NC or HNC.

Whichever course you choose, we will encourage you to ask questions and challenge assumptions about society. This will help you to understand the impact of policies and politics on everyday life. There are lots of career opportunities that can lead on from studying Social Science. For example, you will be prepared for further training and employment in health and social care, human resources, local government, voluntary sector organisations and the police.

Our Preparation for Study in Social Science course is an ideal choice if you have been out of education for some time and would like to study a range of social science subjects to help make a decision about your future studies and career.

By choosing to study with us, you can benefit from successful partnerships with SWAP and local universities. The SWAP programme prepares you for entry into Higher Education and can even guarantee you a place at university.

PARTNERS

The Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) is a partnership between colleges and universities to support access to higher education for adults.

SWAP courses provide students with an alternative route into higher education, designed to give an intensive academic preparation as well as the chance to develop the skills and confidence needed for entry into higher education.

SWAP courses are a great opportunity for those who have been out of education for some time to get back into studying.

SWAP YOUR DIRECTION

For anyone wanting to go to university but thought that the opportunity had passed by, or the work might be too much to handle, think again. The course is designed to help you and the staff provide all the support you need. But most importantly they want you to succeed! Based on my experience at Edinburgh College, I highly recommend the Scottish Wider Access Programme!”
