4.6 Reachingtheendofthetest

The “Test end reached!” message appears when the end of the test is reached. The radiation and the runtime ap-pear in the display.

4.7 Interruptarunningtest

A running test can be interrupted with STOP (for example to change a lamp, for cleaning, for sampling or for cali-bration) and continued later. The test can also be continued after an error message.

NOTICE

Please wait until the lamp cooling shuts off before turning off the instrument at the master switch! The lamp cooling process may take up to 3 minutes depending on the instrument type.

5Entertestparameter

The desired test program can be defined by the user. Six tests with up to six phases for each test can be programmed. The nominal values for the controlled parameters, the phase time and the switch off criteria must be entered. The figure below shows a program with four phases.

6.1.1 Changefilter

The filter system in use (see also operating instructions) can be selected with the arrow keys and confirmed with ENTER. The selection of the filter system must match the actual installed filter system to avoid incorrect reference values.

6.1.2 Changelamp

This function is necessary to set the lamp’s hour counter to 0 when installing a new lamp.

6.1.3 Calibrationandadjustment

For calibration and adjustment, please read the corresponding operating instructions.

NOTE

Depending on the instrument type and configuration, different irradiance and temperature calibrations are available:

XENOTEST 220 300 – 400 nm BST or 420 nm BPT

SUNTEST CPS+ 300 – 800 nm and Lux, BST or 300 – 400 nm and 340 nm, BST

SUNTEST XLS+(I) 300 – 800 nm, BST

6.1.4 Parametermonitoring

Parameter monitoring helps to protect sensitive samples. If the BST cannot be reached, for example, due to a higher ambient temperature, the test will be interrupted.

Parameter monitoring can be switched on and off.

When monitoring is active, all parameters with a programmed nominal value not equal to 0 are monitored continuously to make sure that the appropriate measured value is within the specified tolerance.

The tolerances for the respective parameters are set as follows:

Xenotest 220E nominal value ± 3 W/m²BST nominal value ± 3 °CBPT nominal value ± 3 °CCHT nominal value ± 3 °CRH nominal value ± 5%

The measured value may not be out of the tolerance range for more than 10 minutes. If this happens, the test will be interrupted and an error message displayed.

SUNTESTEThe test will be interrupted and an error message displayed if the set value for E cannot be reached for more than one minute.

BST nominal value ± 3 °CThe measured value may not be out of the tolerance for more than 10 minutes. If this happens, the test will be interrupted and an error message displayed.

NOTICE–warm-uptime

The instrument requires a warm-up time of 15 minutes to set the desired nominal values. After that, the time counter starts if one of the parameters is outside the given tolerance. The warm-up time starts after starting a test and after a phase change.

6.1.5 Printinterval

The instrument supports an RS 232 interface to transfer data to a computer or printer while a test is running.0 to 999 minutes can be entered as a print interval. No output is made when 0 is entered (chapter 2 section 2.2).

6.1.6 Setclock

The date and time can be set. The date and time are output with every data record via the serial interface.

6.1.7 Selectlanguage

The desired user language can be set. If the instrument cannot be operated due to a language being incorrectly selected, perform the following:• Switch-off and on the instrument• Press ENTER• Press button “1”The required language can be set.

6.1.8 Automaticstartafterpowerfailure

Automatic continuation of the test after a power failure can be switched on or off.

6.1.9 Displaycontrast

The contrast setting fine tunes the visual display based on user preferences.

6.1.10 Accessories(SUNTESTCPS+andXLS+only)

If the SUNTEST is operated with the accessory SunFlood or SunCool, the appropriate setting has to be selected.

6.1.11 TestingSunFlood(SUNTESTCPS+andXLS+only)

Function test to check the full wetting of the samples with water in the flooding bath (SunFlood)

6.1.12 XENOSENSIVRC

BatteryThe battery voltage is checked at the start and during the test. If the battery voltage drops too low, the test is inter-rupted and an error message is displayed. The battery must be changed to continue the test. To avoid unnecessary downtime, we recommend that a new spare battery be ordered after changing the existing battery.Original spare batteries can be ordered from Atlas (ID-No. 56055009).

SensorInfoThe controller automatically recognizes which sensor is assigned to the instrument. The following data are displayed under “Sensor Info.“:

• Sensor type, ID and serial number of the connected sensor• Signal: display of the error-free transmissions of the last minute (in percent)• Batt: indicator of the current battery voltage

AssignnewsensorAfter successful assignment, the ID and serial numbers of the sensor assigned to the instrument are displayed for checking.

NOTE

This process may not take place on several instruments simultaneously (see operating instructions).
