PRESS RELEASE SOLARDOCK PROJECT HONORED BY ROOFPOINT FOR EXCELLENCE IN ENERGY MANAGEMENT February 11, 2014 – Sika Sarnafil and The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas recently received the 2013 Roofpoint Excellence in Energy Management Award. This award is given annually to projects that “demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Energy Management Credits, including roof energy efficiency and rooftop clean energy production” (from http://roofpoint.org/projects/excellencedesignaward). The “rooftop clean energy production” piece of this project is provided by a 181.4 kW SolarDock system, which is estimated to provide close to 10% of the building’s power needs. The Bush Center is one of many projects that SolarDock has done with the National Archives. “The National Archives is entrusted with protecting our nation’s most valuable documents and artifacts. That is why they value SolarDock’s commitment to protecting the roof surface and structure. ” says SolarDock’s Dan O’Brien. “SolarDock makes no rooftop penetrations, has redundant grounding, encapsulates the wiring and ballast block, and requires low ballast weight. By using SolarDock, the National Archives does not have to worry about future system failure or rooftop damage due to a low quality, poorly designed, and inadequately installed solar system.” This is not the first recognition this innovative building has received for its environmentally friendly design. Prior to its grand opening it received the USGBC’s highest recognition: LEED Platinum status. Learn more about The George W. Bush Presidential Center’s environmentally friendly features here: http://tpr.org/post/newgeorgebushpresidentialcentersecosensitivedesign More information about Roofpoint can be found on their website: http://roofpoint.org/ About SolarDock: With more than 400 projects and 40 MW of projects installed in the United States and Canada, SolarDock is recognized among leading integrators, distributors and site owners as the premier choice in custom tilt solar mounting system. SolarDock’s commitment to safety and durability is demonstrated by its TUV Certification, 25 year warranty, and extensive wind testing and analysis. SolarDock is available in Canada through a licensing agreement with Sunrise Power (sunrisepower.ca).
